This will download an Excel file you can edit to produce your own custom rubric for an assignment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"create\">Creating a rubric<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In the Excel template you will need to add the criteria headings, scale titles and descriptors for each point of the scale, for each criterion. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1055\" height=\"540\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/TEL-Support-Staff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/92\/2024\/12\/image-6.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-25142\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/TEL-Support-Staff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/92\/2024\/12\/image-6.png 1055w, https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/TEL-Support-Staff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/92\/2024\/12\/image-6-768x393.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1055px) 100vw, 1055px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-text-color has-ast-global-color-5-color has-alpha-channel-opacity has-ast-global-color-5-background-color has-background\" \/>\n\n\n\n<p>a.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <strong>Headings<\/strong> for the <strong>assessment criteria<\/strong> in column A<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>There is a <strong>13-character limit for the criteria names<\/strong>, so you will have to use short headings (e.g. \u2018Analysis\u2019 rather than \u2018Analytical skills\u2019). However, you can enter a fuller description of these headings on a new line, as shown below.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Description field is optional and an be left blank.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Do not worry about formatting &#8211; it will display in Turnitin as plain text.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-bdb023d9-cd29-42a0-a2f5-72999eadc554\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"400\" height=\"400\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/92\/2018\/06\/6-8-e1530196347547.png\" alt=\"Image showing excel grid\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>b.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <strong>Titles<\/strong> for the <strong>scales<\/strong> in row 1<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Scales can be the degree classifications or grades scales for a particular assignment or external qualification. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>c.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Descriptive text in each cell<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The descriptors in each cell need to represent how the scale is attained. See the CQSD ADE <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reading.ac.uk\/cqsd\/-\/media\/project\/functions\/cqsd\/documents\/ade\/tandl-resources\/prp-assessment-criteria-and-rubrics.pdf\">guide Developing and using assessment criteria and rubrics<\/a> for guidance on writing descriptors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When you save the Excel file, ensure the filename is no more than 30 characters long. Once you have saved the Excel file, you can import it into your Turnitin Rubric Library, ready to be attached to an assignment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"import\">Import a Rubric<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>1.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; To import a rubric, go into any Blackboard course where you have a Turnitin assignment set up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2.&nbsp; &nbsp; Click on the assignment and select the <strong>Settings<\/strong> cog icon in the top right-hand corner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Click on the <b>Optional Settings&nbsp;<\/b>link, then <strong>Launch Rubric Manager<\/strong>.
