It prevents students being frustrated by being given access to empty course spaces. It prevents students from accessing incomplete or out-of-date course sites which you are still in the process of developing. It also gives lecturing staff control over what students can see, and when.<\/p>\n<p>This guide will show you how to make a course or organisation available, so that students are able to access it.<\/p>\n<h2>How to do it<\/h2>\n<h3>From the Courses or Organisations page<\/h3>\n<h4>Courses<\/h4>\n<p>On the Courses page, in the &#8216;more options menu&#8217; for a course, select<strong> Course Settings<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-25296\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/TEL-Support-Staff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/92\/2023\/05\/Course-Settings.png\" alt=\"A course tile with Course Settings options highlighted.\" width=\"332\" height=\"304\" \/><\/p>\n<h4>Organisations<\/h4>\n<p>On the Organisations page, in the &#8216;more options menu&#8217; for an organisation, select <strong>Organisation Settings<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3>From inside a Course or Organisation<\/h3>\n<p>At the top of your course or organisation you will see a pill icon, with the message &#8216;Closed&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-25289 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/TEL-Support-Staff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/92\/2023\/05\/Course-Closed-Pill.png\" alt=\"Course settings link and Closed Pill at top of the course page\" width=\"245\" height=\"67\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Click on either Course settings or the course status pill, and you will be taken to the course access area in course settings.<\/p>\n<h3>Change Course Access<\/h3>\n<p>Click the Close Course toggle off (turns grey and slider becomes a cross).
