Please note that this stock image will not be able to be used as a course banner. You will need to upload your own image if you want to display a banner.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/TEL-Support-Staff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/92\/2023\/05\/CourseView.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"334\" height=\"221\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/TEL-Support-Staff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/92\/2023\/05\/CourseView.png\" alt=\"Screenshot showing banner in the Course Base Navigation view\" class=\"wp-image-15858\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/TEL-Support-Staff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/92\/2023\/05\/CourseView.png 334w, https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/TEL-Support-Staff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/92\/2023\/05\/CourseView-150x99.png 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 334px) 100vw, 334px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This image can also be set to display as a banner inside your Ultra course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Using a relevant, eye-catching banner can:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Improve the appearance of your Ultra Course landing page.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Build consistency between the Base Navigation view and the actual course.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Make it easier for students to differentiate between courses.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"image\">Course image requirements<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Before uploading a banner to your Ultra Course please ensure your file is suitable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The image must be at least 1200 pixels wide x 240 pixels high<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Images which are smaller than this will be rejected.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Images which are larger than this will be rescaled and\/or cropped.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>When you upload your image you can specify which sections should be cropped, although the actual area that displays will be different on the Courses page and inside the course, and can also vary depending on screen size.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Larger images will display at a higher quality \u2013 especially on a desktop PC, where the screen size can be much more than 1200 pixels.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Avoid images with text<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Images with text don&#8217;t scale well &#8211; we recommend uploading images without any text.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>An abstract image or one where the focus is at the centre of the image is likely to work best on a variety of devices and screens.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Filetypes<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Either JPG or PNG images are suitable.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>It is now possible to <strong>search for and insert a <a href=\"#insert\">stock images from Unsplash<\/a><\/strong>, these images will be the correct size but will not always work as a banner image. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For more detail see the <a href=\"https:\/\/help.blackboard.com\/Learn\/Instructor\/Ultra\/Courses\/Course_Banner\">Course Banner page on the Blackboard Help site<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"upload\">Uploading a Course Banner<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"#open\">Open Course Banner panel<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"#insert\">Insert image<\/a> (from file or unsplash)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"#adjust\">Adjust image<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"#alt\">Add Alternative Text<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"#on\">Turn Course Banner off\/on as required<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"open\">Open Course Banner panel<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Once you have selected an appropriate image, open the Course and select &#8216;Course Image&#8217; panel will open. This page will give you three options on how to insert an image:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>Drag and drop your chosen file into the Insert image pop-up window<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select &#8220;Upload file&#8221; to browse local files on your computer<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select a stock image from Unsplash <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Drag and drop and Upload options are selected as default. Click on the course to open its contents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 3:<\/strong> The contents of the course appear in folders.
