This can allow you to only link to the discussions through the Discussions Tab<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Post first<\/strong> &#8211; Students must reply to an initial post before being allowed to add their own threads to the discussion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Prevent Editing<\/strong> &#8211; This mean students have to keep their original messages and cannot edit or delete them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Allow anonymous responses and replies<\/strong>. It is not possible to mark a discussion with anonymous posts<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Mark Discussions<\/strong> &#8211; Discussions can be marked and be part of the over all module assessment.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Mark Discussions<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If Mark Discussions is selected additional options will appear in the settings panel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>See <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/TEL-Support-Staff\/set-a-discussion-as-marked\/\">Set a Discussion as Marked<\/a> for further details. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"group\"><a id=\"group\"><\/a>Group Discussions<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If you wish for the discussion to be split over groups, you can select to Assign to Groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"449\" height=\"385\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/TEL-Support-Staff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/92\/2023\/06\/Assign-Groups.png\" alt=\"Assign to groups option in Additional Tools options\" class=\"wp-image-16380\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/TEL-Support-Staff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/92\/2023\/06\/Assign-Groups.png 449w, https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/TEL-Support-Staff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/92\/2023\/06\/Assign-Groups-150x129.png 150w, https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/TEL-Support-Staff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/92\/2023\/06\/Assign-Groups-366x314.png 366w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 449px) 100vw, 449px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Select or create the groups which will be used.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Groups have separate channels and cannot see the other groups. The output can be tailored by selecting specific course content or adding a description prompt. The generated discussion is editable, and will only be added to your course if you choose to \u2018Save\u2019 it.
