It is the only way to <strong>filter anonymous submissions by group <\/strong>in Blackboard Assignment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"#considerations\">Considerations<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"#enable\">Enable delegated marking<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"#access\">Accessing marking and submitted work<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"#view\">Viewing all submitted work<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"considerations\">Considerations<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>When assigned to a group the &#8220;delegated&#8221; markers can only see submissions from their group <strong>it is not possible for them to see the full list of submitted work<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the <strong>Overview<\/strong> and <strong>Markable Items<\/strong> tabs in the Gradebook the assigned marker will only see submissions from their group, for all marking statuses (Needs Marking or Needs Posting). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns are-vertically-aligned-center is-layout-flex wp-container-3\" style=\"padding-top:0;padding-right:0;padding-bottom:0;padding-left:0\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-center is-layout-flow\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">An un-assigned instructor&#8217;s view<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"721\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/TEL-Support-Staff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/92\/2024\/10\/image-81.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-24584\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-center is-layout-flow\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">An assigned instructor&#8217;s view<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"763\" height=\"295\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/TEL-Support-Staff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/92\/2024\/10\/image-82.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-24585\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-text-color has-ast-global-color-5-color has-alpha-channel-opacity has-ast-global-color-5-background-color has-background\" \/>\n\n\n\n<p>On the <strong>Marks tabs<\/strong> assigned markers will see all submissions and marked work, they can use the View option to see submissions not assigned to them. This view is<strong> not possible with anonymous<\/strong> marking until the marks are posted and anonymity is lifted. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"682\" height=\"618\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/TEL-Support-Staff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/92\/2024\/10\/image-83.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-24586\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-text-color has-ast-global-color-5-color has-alpha-channel-opacity has-ast-global-color-5-background-color has-background\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"enable\">Enable delegated marking<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Delegated marking uses Groups Sets to assign the students to marking.  It is <strong>important you create these sets in the Groups area before<\/strong> setting your assignment. See <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/TEL-Support-Staff\/2023\/07\/11\/using-groups-in-learn-ultra\/\">Using Groups in Learn Ultra<\/a> for more information on how to do this. The Groups Sets can be manually or randomly assigned. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"#step1\">Step 1: Select delegated marking<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"#step2\">Step 2: Assign markers: Select the relevant group set<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"#step3\">Step 3: Assign markers: Select instructors for each group<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Save<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"step1\">Step 1: Select delegated marking <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>When creating or editing a Blackboard assignment, go to the <strong>Settings<\/strong> panel. field to see a list of all the instructors on the course<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>select one or more markers from the list <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Any instructors not allocated to a group will see all student submission in the Gradebook. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/TEL-Support-Staff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/92\/2025\/06\/image-15.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-26732\" width=\"571\" height=\"640\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/TEL-Support-Staff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/92\/2025\/06\/image-15.png 1018w, https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/TEL-Support-Staff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/92\/2025\/06\/image-15-768x862.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 571px) 100vw, 571px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-text-color has-ast-global-color-5-color has-alpha-channel-opacity has-ast-global-color-5-background-color has-background\" \/>\n\n\n\n<p>When you have assigned all the markers click <strong>Save<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You will then be returned to the Assignment Settings screen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-text-color has-ast-global-color-5-color has-alpha-channel-opacity has-ast-global-color-5-background-color has-background\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"access\">Accessing and marking submitted work<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>As a marker, having delegated grading turned on makes very little difference to how you access and mark work. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Only the students in the group you have been assigned will appear in the list of students in the marking screen.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>All the usual marking options are available\n<ul>\n<li>Annotate the submission (a)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Add overall feedback (b)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Add mark (c)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1681\" height=\"677\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/TEL-Support-Staff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/92\/2024\/10\/image-85.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-24588\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/TEL-Support-Staff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/92\/2024\/10\/image-85.png 1681w, https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/TEL-Support-Staff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/92\/2024\/10\/image-85-768x309.png 768w, https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/TEL-Support-Staff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/92\/2024\/10\/image-85-1536x619.png 1536w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1681px) 100vw, 1681px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-text-color has-ast-global-color-5-color has-alpha-channel-opacity has-ast-global-color-5-background-color has-background\" \/>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"view\">Viewing all submitted work<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Instructors, Markers and Teaching Assistants who are not assigned to any of the marking groups can view all submissions, marks and feedback, either by accessing the Submissions tab of the assignment, or by going via the Gradebook.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A possible workflow for a Module Convenor or &#8220;lead marker&#8221; would be:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Assign lead marker to their group<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lead marker marks their group<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lead marker is then assigned as an additional marker to all the marking groups (it is possible to change assigned markers and to have more than one assigned marker).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This will allow the lead marker to view all the submissions during moderation or other post marking work. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When<strong> anonymity<\/strong> is on this will allow the leader marker to see all the submission but they <strong>will not be able to see which group the submission is from<\/strong> (unless some code or signature is added to the feedback). <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Delegated grading is primarily used where there are multiple markers, and each marker is assigned a selected group of students to mark.
