{"id":19247,"date":"2024-02-07T10:07:26","date_gmt":"2024-02-07T10:07:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/TEL-Support-Staff\/?p=19247"},"modified":"2025-03-10T11:34:52","modified_gmt":"2025-03-10T11:34:52","slug":"using-gradebook-to-view-your-marks-and-feedback-student-view","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/TEL-Support-Staff\/using-gradebook-to-view-your-marks-and-feedback-student-view\/","title":{"rendered":"How students view their Marks and Feedback"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The two mains ways students can access their Marks and Feedback are via the submission point on the Course Content or via the Gradebook. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To view their marks and feedback students use the Gradebook tab at the top of your Blackboard course page. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"#gradebook\">Student Gradebook view<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"#feedback\">Feedback panel <\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"#additional\">Additional feedback and marker notes<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"#test\">Marked Test Attempts <\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"gradebook\">Student Gradebook view<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The student gradebook will mirror the staff markable items view, however, any hidden submissions or those with release conditions will not appear here. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Status column will show if their progress in the submission cycle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>(a) Marked<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>(b) Submitted<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>(c) Unopened (the student has not yet submitted &#8211; they may have opened the item)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"927\" height=\"441\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/TEL-Support-Staff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/92\/2024\/08\/Staff-feedback-112.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-22146\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/TEL-Support-Staff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/92\/2024\/08\/Staff-feedback-112.png 927w, https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/TEL-Support-Staff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/92\/2024\/08\/Staff-feedback-112-768x365.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 927px) 100vw, 927px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The purple feedback icon (e) will only appear for Blackboard tools, for Turnitin (and other third party tools) students will click on the submission title to open the Turnitin, where they can view their feedback. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"feedback\">Feedback panel<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>When the student clicks on the purple feedback icon a panel will open with their marks, additional feedback and a link to open the actual attempt to view the feedback inputted from the marking screen. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>(f) The mark<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>(g) Additional feedback given via the Gradebook &#8211;<a href=\"#additional\"> see additional feedback<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>(h) <strong>Open attempt and view the feedback<\/strong> inputted on marking screen<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>(i) If marking with a rubric the Attempt mark will show the mark calculated by the rubric and not the override. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Please note:<\/strong> If you have given your rubric scores of zero to use it as a qualitative rubric the students will see 0\/100 for the attempt mark (g). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"356\" height=\"298\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/TEL-Support-Staff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/92\/2024\/08\/Staff-feedback-113-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-22168\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-text-color has-ast-global-color-5-color has-alpha-channel-opacity has-ast-global-color-5-background-color has-background\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"additional\">Additional feedback &amp; notes to markers<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>It is possible to provide some additional overall feedback from the submissions list in Blackboard tools once the submission has been marked (also possible after a mark has been posted).  These comments are included on the feedback panel (e). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns are-vertically-aligned-top is-layout-flex wp-container-3\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-top is-layout-flow\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"458\" height=\"284\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/TEL-Support-Staff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/92\/2024\/08\/Staff-feedback-115.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-22164\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>(j) Feedback to student &#8211; appears on the feedback panel<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>(k) Markers Notes &#8211; invisible to students<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-top is-layout-flow\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"389\" height=\"507\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/TEL-Support-Staff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/92\/2024\/08\/Staff-feedback-114-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-22170\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-text-color has-ast-global-color-5-color has-alpha-channel-opacity has-ast-global-color-5-background-color has-background\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"test\">Marked Test attempt<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>When a test has been marked, either manually or automatically, students will be able to view their answers, any automated feedback and any summary feedback. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>When and if students can view this information<\/strong> in controlled by the <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/TEL-Support-Staff\/blackboard-ultra-tests-settings\/#:~:text=for%20formative%20tests-,Assessment%20Results,-Click%20any%20of\">Assessment Results<\/a> section in the Test settings. For online exams this is set to not show submitted work to students by unchecking the &#8220;students can view their submission&#8221; option. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Test marks <strong>(a)<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Correct\/Incorrect\/Partially Correct pill icons <strong>(b)<\/strong> are predominantly displayed for each question.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Automated feedback <strong>(c)<\/strong>.
