{"id":19790,"date":"2026-08-10T11:30:11","date_gmt":"2026-08-10T11:30:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/TEL-Support-Staff\/?p=19790"},"modified":"2026-08-10T14:05:39","modified_gmt":"2026-08-10T14:05:39","slug":"gradebook-post-student-marks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/TEL-Support-Staff\/gradebook-post-student-marks\/","title":{"rendered":"Post Student Marks"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>To allow students to view their marks and feedback for Blackboard internal assessment tools such as, Assignments, Discussions, Journals and manually marked Tests, Programme Administrators need to Post Marks in the Gradebook, marking screen or the assessment submission tab. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>NB*<\/strong> For summative assessments<strong> markers do not post marks<\/strong>. They will be posted by the programme admin team at the date and time when marks are ready to be returned to students. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/TEL-Support-Staff\/wp-admin\/post.php?post=19790&amp;action=edit#turnitin\">Turnitin and Post Marks<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"#list\">Post marks in the submissions list<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"#gradebook\">Post marks in the Gradebook<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"#marking\">Post marks while marking<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>You can do this for the whole assignment in the Gradebook Markable Items or Marks view from the overview level. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"turnitin\">Turnitin and Post Marks<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>For Turnitin the <strong>feedback release date automatically posts the marks<\/strong>.  From this point the students will be able to view their marks and feedback via the Gradebook or the Turnitin submission point. Set or edit the feedback release date in the Turnitin settings screen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/TEL-Support-Staff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/92\/2026\/08\/image-33.png\" alt=\"Screenshot of Turnitin settings screen with Feedback Release date open for editing.\" class=\"wp-image-29125\" width=\"546\" height=\"372\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Please note<\/strong> <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>If marks are posted before the Feedback Release Date the student will see their marks but not their feedback<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For any marks added after the Feedback Release Date the students will be able to see the marks and feedback immediately in their gradebook. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For assessments where feedback in not a factor the release date could be set for way into the future and the posting function used to reveal marks. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-text-color has-ast-global-color-5-color has-alpha-channel-opacity has-ast-global-color-5-background-color has-background\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"list\">Post marks in Submission list<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Open the assessment from the Course Content or the <strong>Gradebook List<\/strong> view, select the <strong>submissions<\/strong> list, from there you can either select Post all marks, for the whole assignment or post individual marks for students. For summative work Programme Administrators will post marks. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is the best view for checking what has been posted and what remains unposted. For summative assessments all the marks are released together on the 15 day Turnaround Time.
