This then does not count towards any marks and allows them to submit further work. You may also need to Exempt an entire assignment in the Gradebook. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"#attempt\">Exempt individual student attempt<\/a><br><a href=\"#exempt-whole-assignment\">Exempt whole assignment for individual student<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"attempt\">Exempt individual student attempt<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>When marking a student submission or asked to exclude it , <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>go to the Attempt<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>to exclude attempt, click the three dot menu<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>choose Exclude Attempt.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The attempt will now be excluded from the Needs Marking workflow, and will not influence any final marks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/TEL-Support-Staff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/92\/2024\/10\/Exclude-in-Marking-Screen.png\" alt=\"Showing points one and two, the attempt and three dot menu exclude mark option\" class=\"wp-image-23628\" width=\"661\" height=\"428\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"524\" height=\"90\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/TEL-Support-Staff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/92\/2024\/10\/Attempt-Excluded.png\" alt=\"Showing the Excluded wording next to the mark box in a submission. \" class=\"wp-image-23629\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"exempt-whole-assignment\">Exempt whole assignment for a student via Gradebook<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>To exempt an assignment entirely for the student from the Gradebook  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>go to the Gradebook, <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>open students tab and select the student.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In the Marks tab, the list of assignments for the student will open . Click the three dot menu on the appropriate assignment and select &#8220;Add or edit exemptions&#8221;.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tick the &#8220;Exempt mark&#8221; check box, and click &#8220;Save&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This will indicate the mark is exempt in the Marks Column and grey out the mark.
