These are standard controls available in most of the tools, that help tailor prompts. The general settings are similar for each AI tool and use a simple, consistent panel (as seen in the example below).&nbsp;These are not relevant for AI Conversations (Role play and Socratic questioning), which have their own panel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"How-do-I-use-the-general-settings?\">How do I use the general settings?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>When configuring your prompt, choose from the following options:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"349\" height=\"637\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/TEL-Support-Staff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/92\/2025\/06\/04.-Generation-Steps.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-27024\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Description Field:<\/strong> Enter detailed prompts to focus content generation, up to 2000 characters. See how to write effective prompts for <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/TEL-Support-Staff\/blackboard-ai-design-assistant-ai-prompt-writing\">Blackboard AI Design Assistant &#8211; AI Prompt writing<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Context Picker:<\/strong> Use existing course content to guide the AI.&nbsp;You can select from most course areas, for example; course files, Ultra Documents, titles and descriptions (note: this setting is not available for AI Rubrics).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Cognitive Level:<\/strong> Choose from categories to configure outputs that align with Bloom\u2019s Taxonomy levels; apply, analyse, evaluate or create.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Complexity Level:<\/strong> Match the output language to the year or level of your course, the default setting is undergraduate lower division (levels are based on the American schooling system, see table 1 below).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Generate title and advanced options:<\/strong> Check this box to obtain suggested titles, or change the language using the <strong>Advanced <\/strong>option to generate content in other supported languages.\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/help.anthology.com\/blackboard\/instructor\/en\/course-and-content-management\/ai-design-assistant.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">See Blackboard&#8217;s own guide for a full list<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Generate: <\/strong>Can be clicked multiple times to generate iterations of the output.
