It uses artificial intelligence to create images based on short text prompts or existing course content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"Tips-for-using-the-tool.\">Tips for using the tool.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Use clear, concise prompts to generate effective and relevant images.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Leverage the tool to visualise abstract or complex concepts.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Add alternative (alt) text to all AI-generated images to support screen reader accessibility.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Review each image carefully to ensure it is culturally sensitive, inclusive, appropriate, and relevant to your content.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Maintain a balance between images and text to prevent cognitive overload.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Always preview images before inserting them into your content.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"How-to-use-it\">How to use it<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You can access the Blackboard AI Image Generator wherever you can add media content in Blackboard. Here are a few examples of where you can add an image:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>In an Ultra learning module to complement the topic<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>When you create an announcement, to clarify a message.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In a discussion or journal<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In an Ultra document as media content.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>To add an image to course content, navigate to the relevant content editor and click the \u2018<strong>insert\/edit image<\/strong>\u2019 icon or select from the editor menu:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/TEL-Support-Staff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/92\/2025\/07\/adding-images-to-documents.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-27092\" width=\"441\" height=\"388\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Select the \u2018Generate images\u2019 option from the dropdown, enter your descriptive prompt in the text box, and click \u2018<strong>Generate image.<\/strong>\u2019 You can repeat this until you reach desired result:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"448\" height=\"358\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/TEL-Support-Staff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/92\/2025\/07\/Image-dropdown-options.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-27093\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"448\" height=\"710\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/TEL-Support-Staff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/92\/2025\/06\/insert-AI-image-page.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-27054\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>If you do not give a descriptive prompt, the tool will generate an image based on the title of the course content you are creating the image for. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Select the image you are happy with and click &#8216;<strong>Next<\/strong>\u2019:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you have selected your image you can then crop and orient your image to your requirements, once you are happy, click &#8216;<strong>Next<\/strong>\u2019:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"448\" height=\"710\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/TEL-Support-Staff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/92\/2025\/06\/AI-image-crop-page.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-27055\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"Attribution\">Attribution<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>It is good practice to acknowledge that the image was produced using AI. You can use the \u2018image caption\u2019 box for this (Step 2), if adding an image to a document, we recommend using the wording &#8216;AI generated image using Bb AI design assistant&#8217; as a minimum and you can choose to place the caption above or below the image (Step 3).
