The tab for both staff and students is available at the top course menu. However, students will only see this once an achievement has been created in the course.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Course badges are only seen within the Course and designed only to be used in Blackboard. The description is limited to 500 characters.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 3<\/strong>: Select one of the images to represent the course badge. A set variety of icons are offered covering a range of learner expectations. <strong>Step 3a:<\/strong> Allows you to create your own <a href=\"#Customised-Image-Badges\">customised image badge<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 4<\/strong>: Under <strong>Performance, <\/strong>select a <strong>Markable item <\/strong>from the course. Then, set the expected level of performance for the student to earn the badge using <strong>Requirement<\/strong>. You can add additional requirements by selecting\u202f\u2018<strong>Add performance criteria\u2019<\/strong>.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>You must set at least one performance criterion for the course badge.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Students must meet all criteria to be awarded the course badge.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>To remove a criterion, select the trash can icon. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1094\" height=\"724\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/TEL-Support-Staff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/92\/2025\/10\/achievement-guide-5.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-27760\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/TEL-Support-Staff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/92\/2025\/10\/achievement-guide-5.png 1094w, https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/TEL-Support-Staff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/92\/2025\/10\/achievement-guide-5-768x508.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1094px) 100vw, 1094px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-text-color has-ast-global-color-5-color has-alpha-channel-opacity has-ast-global-color-5-background-color has-background\" \/>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>Summary <\/strong>section shows how the course badge will appear to students.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Select <strong>Publish <\/strong>or <strong>Save Draft <\/strong>to finish. (Chose Save Draft if you need to continue working on the details of a badge.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"Customised-Image-Badges\">Customised Image Badges<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>In <strong>Step 3a<\/strong> above, you can create your own customised image badge on selecting the icon you can choose from three options:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"356\" height=\"312\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/TEL-Support-Staff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/92\/2025\/10\/achievement-guide-8.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-27762\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Upload from Device<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Here you can add your own sourced images from your media files, by drag and drop or selecting the &#8216;upload file&#8217; button. (ensure you have copyright permission to publish the image)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Stock images from Unsplash<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Unsplash images give you access to a library of images, allowing you to search from a keyword and finding an appropriate image.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Generate images<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>This uses the Blackboard AI Design Assistant function therefore, before using this tool ensure you have familiarised yourself with the practical and ethical considerations in the \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/tel\/introducing-the-blackboard-ai-design-assistant\/\">Getting starting with Blackboard AI Design Assistant<\/a>\u2018 guide. You can create an AI image from a keyword or prompt , however there is no method to add any attribution and acknowledge the use of AI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"Framing-your-chosen-image\">Framing your chosen image<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you have selected your image and selected the &#8216;Next&#8217; button, you can frame your image using the size slider and move the image into the centre of the badge frame (it can only be a round frame). When you are happy with the image select the &#8216;Save&#8217; button.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/TEL-Support-Staff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/92\/2025\/10\/achievement-guide-9-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-27764\" width=\"323\" height=\"512\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Your new custom badge will appear in place of the upload icon in <strong>Step 3a<\/strong> to allow you to add to your achievement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"Editing-Badges\">Editing Badges<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>You can edit course badges that were saved as draft by going the three-dot menu and selecting\u202f<strong>Edit<\/strong> in the dropdown. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Important<\/strong>: Published course badges can&#8217;t be edited and can only be deleted by selecting\u202f<strong>Delete\u202f<\/strong>from the three-dot menu&#8217;s dropdown.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1137\" height=\"427\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/TEL-Support-Staff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/92\/2025\/09\/achievement-guide-3.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-27547\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/TEL-Support-Staff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/92\/2025\/09\/achievement-guide-3.png 1137w, https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/TEL-Support-Staff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/92\/2025\/09\/achievement-guide-3-768x288.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1137px) 100vw, 1137px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-text-color has-ast-global-color-5-color has-alpha-channel-opacity has-ast-global-color-5-background-color has-background\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"View-recipients-of-Achievements\"><a id=\"Section2\"><\/a>View recipients of Achievements<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The recipient count appears for each course badge in the Achievement tab. It shows the students who have earned the badge. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Select a badge to review the details of the recipients in the Recipients tab.
