They can run the check 3 times per document. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Draft Coach&nbsp;uses the new&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/guides.turnitin.com\/hc\/en-us\/articles\/25042947311757-Student-overview-of-the-new-Similarity-Report-experience\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Enhanced&nbsp;Similarity Report<\/a>&nbsp;to&nbsp;help students understand the matches they see in their work&nbsp;and learn from these to improve their&nbsp;academic writing.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students (and staff) can access Draft Coach by opening their document in Microsoft Word or Word Online, selecting the Turnitin tab, clicking Draft Coach to open the panel, and choosing Similarity Check:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/tel-support-students\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/93\/2026\/02\/image-5.png\" alt=\"Accessing Draft Coach in Word\" class=\"wp-image-8278\" width=\"659\" height=\"312\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><strong>How does the&nbsp;Similarity Report work?<\/strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Similarity Report, whether generated via Draft Coach or a\u00a0Turnitin\u00a0Assignment submission point, simply\u00a0identifies\u00a0text in an assignment that matches sources in Turnitin\u2019s databases. (If accessed via Draft Coach, it does not submit the document to Turnitin&#8217;s repository of submitted assignments.) The Similarity Report does not necessarily\u00a0indicate\u00a0plagiarism.\u00a0In this way, students\u00a0are still required to\u00a0make decisions about their work when they see the report. Whether a student has plagiarised remains\u00a0your academic judgement when marking the assignment.\u00a0For more guidance on using and interpreting the Similarity Report,\u00a0including what the Turnitin Similarity Report<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Grammar and citation tools in Draft Coach<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Draft Coach also includes\u00a0basic grammar and citation checkers.\u00a0These general tools\u00a0don\u2019t\u00a0provide discipline-specific writing feedback or\u00a0identify\u00a0errors for all referencing and citation styles.\u00a0Students\u00a0are being directed\u00a0to use more effective University-supported tools and <a href=\"https:\/\/libguides.reading.ac.uk\/study-advice-guides-videos\/academic-integrity\">the guidance from Study Advice.<\/a> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please&nbsp;advise students to&nbsp;use&nbsp;<strong>Draft Coach for similarity checking only<\/strong>&nbsp;as&nbsp;indicated&nbsp;in the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/tel-support-students\/turnitin-draft-coach-similarity-checking-before-submission\/\">student guidance on using the tool<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Points to remember<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Draft Coach is for formative use only<\/strong>:\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0a student-facing drafting resource intended to\u00a0assist\u00a0academic writing skills before submission.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>You\u00a0cannot see\u00a0Similarity Reports or checks generated by Draft Coach<\/strong>:\u00a0These\u00a0do\u00a0<strong>not\u00a0<\/strong>feed back\u00a0into\u00a0Turnitin.\u00a0You\u00a0can see a\u00a0Similarity Report\u00a0when the assignment is\u00a0submitted\u00a0for marking to help\u00a0you judge\u00a0its\u00a0academic integrity.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Draft Coach does&nbsp;not<\/strong><strong><em>&nbsp;<\/em><\/strong><strong>submit&nbsp;to Turnitin\u2019s repository<\/strong>: Running&nbsp;reports via&nbsp;Draft Coach&nbsp;will&nbsp;<strong>not&nbsp;<\/strong>affect the student\u2019s final Turnitin&nbsp;Similarity&nbsp;Report once they&nbsp;submit&nbsp;their&nbsp;assignment.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How to support students<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>For step-by-step guidance on accessing and using Draft Coach, signpost students to the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/tel-support-students\/turnitin-draft-coach-similarity-checking-before-submission\/\">TEL Student guide to using Draft Coach.<\/a>&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Integrate the use of Draft Coach&nbsp;into&nbsp;a relevant&nbsp;module&nbsp;as a formative exercise&nbsp;to offer opportunities to discuss your expectations,&nbsp;guide effective use&nbsp;and tackle common&nbsp;citation&nbsp;mistakes.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Remind students that Draft Coach is not a replacement for final Turnitin\u00a0similarity\u00a0checks through Blackboard\/Turnitin\u00a0Assignment\u00a0submission\u00a0points in the Blackboard course.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Encourage effective use by percentages reflect matched text, not necessarily plagiarism, and&nbsp;that correct citation and paraphrasing practices are&nbsp;important.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>For&nbsp;academic
