A &#8216;team&#8217; is a dynamic workspace that allows <\/span><\/span><\/span><span class=\"TrackChangeTextInsertion TrackedChange SCXW94662090 BCX0\"><span class=\"TextRun SCXW94662090 BCX0\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\" data-contrast=\"none\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW94662090 BCX0\">members work together and interact in one place. A&nbsp;team is made up of&nbsp;&#8216;channels&#8217; in which you and your students can:<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><span class=\"TrackChangeTextInsertion TrackedChange SCXW94662090 BCX0\"><span class=\"TextRun SCXW94662090 BCX0\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\" data-contrast=\"none\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW94662090 BCX0\">Post chat messages&nbsp;and have conversations,<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span class=\"TrackChangeTextInsertion TrackedChange SCXW94662090 BCX0\"><span class=\"TextRun SCXW94662090 BCX0\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\" data-contrast=\"none\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW94662090 BCX0\">Store and share links, images and files,<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hold&nbsp;meetings for interactive sessions and presentations,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be notified about&nbsp;activity.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"restrictions\">Restrictions on use of Teams for Teaching and Learning<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"#central\">Blackboard\/Canvas Central hub for delivery<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"#students\">Using Teams with Students<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"#recording\">Recording Policy in relation to the use of teams in Teaching and Learning<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"#support\">Support<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"central\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">&nbsp;Blackboard (or Canvas) must remain the central hub&nbsp;for the delivery of:&nbsp;<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><span data-contrast=\"none\">Core learning content,&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span data-contrast=\"none\">Essential&nbsp;academic&nbsp;module communications&nbsp;<\/span>(do not use Teams calendar or channels for essential module communications),<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span data-contrast=\"none\">Summative&nbsp;assessment&nbsp;submission&nbsp;and&nbsp;feedback,&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span data-contrast=\"none\">Copyrighted&nbsp;materials,&nbsp;for examples scanned articles made available in the Talis Reading List.&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"students\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Using Teams&nbsp;with students&nbsp;<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">Teams can be used&nbsp;with students,&nbsp;<\/span><strong><span data-contrast=\"none\">in conjunction with&nbsp;<\/span>Blackboard<\/strong>,<span data-contrast=\"none\">&nbsp;for the following purposes:&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">1. A webinar solution for live interactive online sessions (for example,\u00a0seminars)<\/span><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><span data-contrast=\"none\">Links to interactive online sessions<\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">&nbsp;must&nbsp;<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"none\">be displayed in Blackboard modules.<\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"none\">See<\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/b><a href=\"http:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/tel\/how-to-make-online-interactive-sessions-available-to-students\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">How to make online interactive sessions available to students<\/span><\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span data-contrast=\"none\">You can create breakout rooms in Teams. A space for informal collaboration between students (for example, Group work and file sharing)<\/span><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><span data-contrast=\"none\">Staff can&nbsp;<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/TEL-Support-Staff\/how-to-request-a-team-for-teaching-and-learning\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">request a new Team space<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"none\">&nbsp;for informal use with&nbsp;students;&nbsp;with the option to auto-enrol members from a single module code and\/or manually add Team members.<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span data-contrast=\"none\">Where the space is used for Teaching and Learning, it is recommended that a member of staff is the&nbsp;<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/en-us\/office\/team-owner-member-and-guest-capabilities-in-teams-d03fdf5b-1a6e-48e4-8e07-b13e1350ec7b\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Team \u2018owner\u2019.<\/span><\/a> Note;<span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;134233279&quot;:true,&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">&nbsp;&#8216;essential&#8217; learning content must be shared via Blackboard.<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span data-contrast=\"none\">Team owners can assign members to specific <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/TEL-Support-Staff\/introduction-to-teams-channels-for-student-collaboration\/\">Team channels<\/a> for collaboration, these can be made&nbsp;<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.microsoft.com\/en-us\/microsoftteams\/private-channels\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">private<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"none\">&nbsp;to restrict access.&nbsp;<\/span>It is recommended that Team owners&nbsp;customise membership permissions within the Team to prevent members from deleting or adding unwanted Channels, see:&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/en-us\/office\/manage-team-settings-and-permissions-in-teams-ce053b04-1b8e-4796-baa8-90dc427b3acc\">Manage team settings and permissions<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span data-contrast=\"none\">Team channels have their own \u2018open\u2019 meeting room, which can be joined at any time by Team members (or channel members only, if set to \u2018<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.microsoft.com\/en-us\/microsoftteams\/private-channels\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">private<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"none\">&#8216;). The channel meeting room posts a historical meeting chat\/file sharing to the channel feed, after the meeting has ended.&nbsp;<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;134233279&quot;:true,&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span data-contrast=\"none\">Students can access their Teams space or channel meeting rooms by:&nbsp;<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/en-gb\/office\/set-up-your-teams-mobile-apps-1ba8dce3-1122-47f4-8db6-00a4f93117e8\">setting up the Teams mobile app,<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>via the automatic email notification received when added to a new Team<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Team owners can copy a joining link (for example, a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/en-us\/office\/create-a-link-or-a-code-for-joining-a-team-11b0de3b-9288-4cb4-bc49-795e7028296f\">link for joining a Team,<\/a>&nbsp;specific channel or a channel meeting room), and displaying on their Blackboard module.
