SUMMARY:Professor Ken Laidlaw - How CBT With Older People is Different: Age Appropriate CBT With Older People (Online)
DESCRIPTION:The workshop covers normal ageing\, how CBT may be different with older people and an age-appropriate approach to CBT and helps therapists examine how CBT can be very empowering of older people in bringing about positive changes. This workshop also provides a number of key clinical examples that showcase some of the challenges therapists may face when working with older people who may present with chronic and complex anxiety disorders and depression. \nLearning objectives: \nUnderstand what the demographic change is and implications for therapists working with older people.\nTo develop ways to engage effectively with older people using CBT\nTo understand and apply CBT knowledge and skill when working with older people facing age-related challenges.\nTo understand and apply an age-appropriate evidence-based approach to CBT with older people.\nThis workshop will run from 10:00 until 3.00 pm\, with a 45- minute break for lunch. \nGroup bookings of 4 workshops or more will receive a 10% discount (£67.50 per session)\, and 10 workshops or more will receive a 15% discount (£63.75 per session)*. \nUniversity of Reading Students (current and graduate) will receive a 20% discount upon verification of a valid student number. Please contact cwi@reading.ac.uk in the first instance with your student number and for further instructions. \n*Please note: The online store accepts card & PayPal payment ONLY. If you wish to pay via another method or make multiple bookings to benefit from the discount\, please email the CWI Team on cwi@reading.ac.uk. \nBook Here\nDue to the current situation we are unable to physically host workshops at the University of Reading. With the ever-changing guidance around restrictions\, we anticipate this to be a short-to-medium term arrangement – most likely until September 2021. This is under constant review and we will resume our usual programme as soon as possible\, whilst continuing to run the online events as an alternative for those who cannot attend in person. \nEvents will be delivered using Microsoft Teams\, for which delegates will be sent a link for joining. No previous experience of this tool or specific software is required (although we do recommend that you access the event using a connection with good bandwidth). \nTaught by leading experts\, our workshops provide training opportunities in evidence-based treatments. All of our courses are accredited and are BABCP compliant providing 5 CPD hours\, with an approximate 50/50 split between theory and skills. The cost of the workshop includes an electronic CPD certificate. All workshops\, unless otherwise stated\, are intended for a cross/mixed ability audience. \nWe also offer a range of training options in all psychological treatments\, all of which are recommended by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE).
