Clinical Training Programmes<\/strong><\/h1>\n

Since 2008, the Charlie Waller Institute has expanded its training offer to 8 credit bearing programmes, the majority of which are funded by NHS-England, informed by national mental health workforce curricula and accredited by relevant professional governing bodies.<\/strong><\/p>\n

All our clinical training programmes are of a high quality with teaching from a range of national and international experts on mental health interventions. Where programme accreditation exists, all of our programmes have been early adopters and have maintained our accreditation status since.<\/p>\n

Working with Adults<\/h2>\n

Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP) Training<\/h3>\n

Postgraduate Certificate in Evidence-Based Psychological Treatment ><\/a><\/h4>\n

Do you want to support adults experiencing anxiety and depression, using Low-Intensity CBT? Interested in training to be a PWP alongside working in an NHS Talking Therapies service?<\/span><\/p>\n

Our BPS accredited course allows you to do just that, combining taught University content with your experience in the workplace, to develop clinical competency.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

High Intensity (HI) Training<\/h3>\n

Postgraduate Diploma in Evidence-Based Psychological Treatment ><\/a><\/h4>\n

Our HI training is aimed at experienced mental health practitioners\/professionals who wish to become accredited cognitive behavioural psychotherapists. This programme is accredited at level 2.<\/p>\n

CWI NHS Talking Therapies Clinical Leadership Programme<\/b><\/h3>\n

Continuing Professional Development \u2013 Empowering Clinical Leaders ><\/a><\/u><\/b><\/h4>\n

Empowering clinical leaders to drive evidence-based, inclusive, and compassionate change across NHS Talking Therapies. This 9\u201312 month programme blends strategic leadership training, lived experience, and service improvement projects. Participants gain the skills, confidence, and community to lead transformation in adult mental health service<\/p>\n

Working with Children<\/h2>\n

Graduate\/Postgraduate Diploma Children\u2019s Wellbeing Practitioner Training ><\/a><\/h3>\n

The CWP programme has been designed specifically for practitioners whose role will routinely include brief therapeutic interventions for children and adolescents with mild-to-moderate anxiety or depression, and parents of children experiencing anxiety disorders or behavioural difficulties.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Graduate\/Postgraduate Diploma Education Mental Health Practitioner Training ><\/a><\/h3>\n

The role of EMHPs will routinely include brief therapeutic and whole school interventions in the education setting (e.g. schools and colleges).<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Children and Young People Cognitive Behavioural Therapy<\/h3>\n

Postgraduate Diploma in Evidence-Based Psychological Treatment for Children and Young People ><\/a><\/h4>\n

The CBT route of this programme has been designed specifically for staff whose role routinely includes working with children and young people presenting with emotional disorders such as: generalised anxiety disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, post traumatic stress disorder, depression, social anxiety, specific phobias, separation anxiety disorder and panic disorder.<\/p>\n

Postgraduate Certificate in Supervision for Children and Young People\u2019s Mental Health ><\/a><\/h3>\n

The supervisor training offers an exciting opportunity to develop your supervisory skills and to learn about evidence-based supervisory approaches for working with staff delivering evidence-based psychological treatments for children, young people and their families.<\/p>\n

Postgraduate Diploma Senior Wellbeing Practitioner Training ><\/span><\/span><\/a><\/h3>\n

This programme is aimed at experienced Low Intensity practitioners in Children and Young People settings, and provides the training required to become a Senior Wellbeing Practitioner.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Continuing Professional Development (CPD)<\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n

CPD – Leadership ><\/span><\/span><\/a><\/h4>\n

This CPD course provides training in Transformational Leadership in Children and Young People Mental Health settings and is aimed at established NHS staff in leadership roles.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

CPD – Inpatient ><\/span><\/span><\/a><\/h4>\n

This CPD course provides training in Inpatient practice in Children and Young People Mental Health Tier 4 settings.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Where do these programmes fit?<\/h2>\n

The Improving Access to Psychological Therapies programme began in October 2007 when the Government announced annual investment rising to \u00a3173m by 2010\/11 to fund the roll-out of evidence-based psychological therapy services across England. The IAPT programme has one principal aim; to support Primary Care Trusts in implementing the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence<\/a> (NICE) guidelines for people suffering from depression and anxiety disorders.<\/p>\n

In 2011, Children and Young People’s IAPT (CYP IAPT) was launched seeking to improve the quality and access of services that provide mental health support for children and young people. As the agenda was developed to improve existing services, rather than to create new NHS provision, the term IAPT is less commonly utilised across Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS). The children and young people’s mental health agenda refers to the same service transformation project and perhaps better captures that this sits across various stakeholders (e.g. voluntary sector, NHS and schools and colleges).<\/p>\n

Each NHS-England funded programme detailed below consists of a year-long training course as well as experience within a partnering service (e.g. NHS and voluntary sector).
