We were thrilled to see so many of our wonderful alumni community at our recent Reading, London and Beijing Alumni Drinks events.<\/span><\/p>\n

Reading and London Receptions 2024<\/h4>\n

Our local drinks event took place at the Reading Biscuit Factory. Our alumni gathered in the heart of Reading to mingle over drinks and pizza before having a special screening of some of our Film, Theatre and Television student productions. We then got to meet more of our alumni at London\u2019s Copper Bar (The Botanist, Broadgate) to chat over drinks and nibbles.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

Agnes Gibson, Head of Campaign and Supporter Engagement, said: \u201cWe\u2019re pleased to say that both drinks events were a huge success and we would like to thank everyone who attended and made them so special.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cMeeting our alumni, and hearing your stories of lasting friendship, successful careers and fond memories of Reading made these events so heartwarming.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Beijing Alumni Reception 2023<\/h4>\n

\"TheOn Wednesday 13 September 2023, our Vice-Chancellor, Professor Robert Van de Noort, hosted an Alumni Drinks Reception in Beijing. With over 100 graduates attending, it was a wonderful opportunity to catch up with our alumni community in China.<\/p>\n

This event, held jointly with the University of Reading and Henley Business School<\/a>, also marked 20 years of collaboration with the Beijing Institute of Technology<\/a>, who jointly run an accountancy course with Henley.<\/p>\n

The alumni in attendance heard speeches from Professor Van de Noort, Associate Director, Office of International Affairs of BIT,  Mao Yufeng, and the Regional Manager for East Asia, Vicky Li-Ong. Alumni were also shown a video with messages from the Chancellor, Paul Lindley OBE, the Pro-Vice Chancellor (International), Dr Caroline Baylon, and the Dean of Henley Business School, Professor Elena Spasova.<\/p>\n

Professor Van de Noort said: \u201cAt the University of Reading we are proud of our global community of over 300,000 alumni in more than 150 countries. It was a great honour to visit Beijing recently and meet some of our global alumni community.<\/p>\n

\n

\u201cIt was wonderful to share the University of Reading\u2019s achievements with our alumni community and to hear from our graduates, in person, what they have gone onto do and what they have achieved since leaving Reading.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\u201cIt warmed my heart to hear from many of these alumni that they are interested in returning to Reading to pursue further studies.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe also celebrated 19 years of the University\u2019s partnership with the Beijing Institute of Technology and looked forward to where our partnership will go in the future.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"AlumniAfter a toast to the partnership between the University of Reading, Henley Business School and the Beijing Institute of Technology, alumni were provided with food, drink and an opportunity for networking. Alumni also had the opportunity to enter their business cards into a hoodie prize draw. We had two lucky winners \u2013 Yanxing Chen and Jiacheng Fan \u2013 who are now proud owners of a University of Reading hoodie.<\/p>\n

Vicky Li-Ong, Regional Manager for East Asia, said: \u201cIt was such a successful event with over 100 alumni turning up. Many of them came late due to their work commitments, but they still wanted to meet the Vice-Chancellor in person. Some travelled from Shanghai [a 2 hour flight] and at least five alumni came all the way from Shenzhen\/Guangzhou [a 3 hour flight] to attend the reception. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe atmosphere was fantastic \u2013 everyone seemed to enjoy the event and commented that we should hold Alumni Receptions more often.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Join an Alumni Group<\/h4>\n

During the Beijing Alumni Reception the Beijing Alumni Group was relaunched. The group has an active WeChat group and runs events. Vicky said: \u201cI\u2019m so pleased that many of the alumni I met at the event are eager to be part of the Beijing Alumni Group and reconnect with the University.\u201d <\/p>\n
