On Show Your Stripes Day, 21 June 2024, global landmarks from London, to Brisbane, to New York City were lit up with the University of Reading\u2019s climate stripes to start conversations about the Earth\u2019s rapid warming.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

From London to Australia, landmarks from all over the world came together for Show Your Stripes Day 2024 to help spread the message about climate change. Brisbane\u2019s iconic bridges were illuminated using Queensland\u2019s climate stripes. While the United States saw the Dublin Link Bridge in \u00a0Columbus, The Six Light Bridges in Houston, Baltimore\u2019s City Hall and the PECO building in Philadelphia, all illuminated by the stripes.<\/p>\n

\"TowerIn the UK, the Tower of London was just one of the various global landmarks showing the climate stripes on Friday 21 June 2024. Alongside Lord\u2019s Cricket Ground, the\u00a0nearly\u00a01000-year-old<\/a>\u00a0White Tower<\/a>\u00a0was transformed into a monumental canvas of red and blue to show the progressive heating of the capital.<\/p>\n

Jen Stone, Sustainability Manager at Historic Royal Palaces \u2013 the charity that cares for the Tower of London \u2013 said: \u201cThe Tower of London is a place where history has been made for\u00a0nearly 1000\u00a0years and\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0a place where history continues to unfold to this day.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a charity, we are committed to acting for the future of our historically significant buildings, our people and, ultimately, of\u00a0the planet. This means making changes onsite \u2013 like our ambitious decarbonisation plans \u2013\u00a0and also\u00a0harnessing the power of our iconic silhouette to start conversations about the climate crisis and the role we can all play.<\/p>\n
