We are thrilled to announce that the University of Reading has been named Sustainable University of the Year 2025 in The Time and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2025.<\/span><\/p>\n

Not only has the University been named Sustainable University of the Year 2025 but we are proud to say that Reading has also moved up to joint 24th<\/sup> in the UK, alongside our friends at Kings College London, in the 2025 Good University Guide. This is a leap of 10 places since the 2024 ranking.<\/p>\n

The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2025<\/a>\u00a0said: \u201cReading has made an impressive headway towards its ambition of being one of the greenest universities in the world.\u201d<\/p>\n

Reading, which is already top of the\u00a0People & Planet League Table<\/a>\u00a0of UK universities and won the Times Higher Education\u2019s\u00a0award for Environmental Leadership<\/a>, was highlighted for reducing our carbon emissions by more than 60 per cent since 2009 and cutting waste by 35 per cent.<\/p>\n

The Guide highlights Reading\u2019s status as one of the world\u2019s leading universities for the study of climate change \u2013 as indicated by the\u00a0award of the Queen\u2019s Anniversary Prize<\/a>\u00a0in 2021.<\/p>\n

Securing a better future<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Helen Davies, editor of The\u00a0Times\u00a0and The Sunday\u00a0Times\u00a0Good University Guide,\u00a0said:\u00a0\u201cThe best universities \u2013 whether they were founded in the 15th century or 2005 \u2013 are local and global powerhouses of intellectual thought and creativity, from the arts to science, that can power economic regeneration and lead the way to a better life.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis year we have tweaked our methodology to keep up with contemporary concerns around climate change and careers and have added in a sustainability metric, teaming up with People & Planet, and boosted the weighting of graduate prospects.<\/p>\n
