Research at Reading<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Research at the University of Reading<\/a> is recognised as world-leading and internationally excellent, as seen in the most recent Research Excellence Framework<\/a>. Our researchers are tackling some of the biggest challenges facing society today.<\/p>\n

Research at Reading is based on four key themes – agriculture, food and health<\/a>, environment<\/a>, heritage and creativity<\/a>, and prosperity and resilience<\/a>. The themes are open-ended and overlapping, crossing traditional boundaries and enabling us to nurture innovation and deliver impactful and curiosity-driven research.<\/p>\n

\u00a0These themes bring together expertise from across the University\u2019s 30 research divisions, including\u00a0agri-food economics and social science, art and design, biomedical sciences and biomedical engineering, climate, economics, education language and learning, film theatre and television, law, psychology and clinical language sciences, politics and philosophy.<\/p>\n

Working across continents and disciplines, our researchers explore ways to tackle issues that positively impact communities locally and globally.<\/p>\n

A special Centenary edition<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The first, special centenary edition of CONNECTING RESEARCH, shares more about the recent Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) workshops hosted at Reading, how the University of Reading is investing in the future of farming and who the inspiring Lady Eve Balfour is.<\/p>\n

IPCC workshops <\/strong><\/p>\n

\"MultipleEarlier this year, the University hosted two major workshops for the IPCC in collaboration with the UK government and the Met Office.<\/p>\n

Bringing together more than 100 climate experts and policymakers, the workshops focused on strengthening global understanding of climate challenges and exploring effective responses for the future.<\/p>\n

The special centenary edition of Connecting Research features insights and discussion from experts across the University, the Met Office and the Government. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Celebrating alumna Lady Eve Balfour<\/strong><\/p>\n

The edition shines a spotlight on Lady Balfour, one of the first women to study agriculture<\/a> at a UK university and founder of the Soil Association<\/a>. Her pioneering work in sustainable agriculture continues to inspire researchers at Reading today and remains an important part of the University\u2019s history.
