They provide opportunities for staff and students to work in partnership to identify \u201cwhat works\u201d and support enhancements to teaching and learning. For the Summer vacation, evaluations are less standard, and timescales are agreed with Schools in advance.<\/p><p>There are bespoke arrangements in place for several modules where these standard timings do not fit with the teaching on a module. If there are specific arrangements for the evaluation of your module that need to be accommodated, please contact the module evaluation team (<a href=\"mailto:module.evaluation@reading.ac.uk\">module.evaluation@reading.ac.uk<\/a>) who will aim to ensure the timing is optimised according to your module requirements.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"ea-card sp-ea-single\"><h3 class=\"ea-header\"><a class=\"collapsed\" id=\"ea-header-29551\" role=\"button\" data-sptoggle=\"spcollapse\" data-sptarget=\"#collapse29551\" aria-controls=\"collapse29551\" href=\"#\" aria-expanded=\"false\" tabindex=\"0\"><i aria-hidden=\"true\" role=\"presentation\" class=\"ea-expand-icon eap-icon-ea-expand-plus\"><\/i> What questions do we ask our students?<\/a><\/h3><div class=\"sp-collapse spcollapse \" id=\"collapse29551\" data-parent=\"#sp-ea-2955\" role=\"region\" aria-labelledby=\"ea-header-29551\"> <div class=\"ea-body\"><p style=\"text-align: left\"><u>A. Core questions<\/u><\/p><p style=\"text-align: left\">From 2024\/25, all surveys consist of seven core quantitative questions along with two core qualitative questions.<\/p><ol><li><strong>The content on this module (e.g. the reading list, sources studied, ideas presented) offered a range of perspectives.<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>Staff were good at explaining things.<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>I understood what was required of me to complete my assessment.<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>I received useful feedback (consider both formal and informal feedback).<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>The module was well organised.<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>The resources on Blackboard for this module supported my learning well.<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>The assessment(s) on this module contributed to the development of my knowledge and skills<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>What did you value most about this module? Supplementary questions<\/u><\/p><p>In addition to the 9 core questions, Schools are able to select up to four supplementary quantitative questions from the question bank for each of their questionnaire templates. These four questions can be changed every two years.<\/p><p>The quantitative questions use a 5-point Likert scale (from strongly disagree to strongly agree) to measure student opinion. The qualitative questions are free text and provide an opportunity for students to give a more detailed response.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"ea-card sp-ea-single\"><h3 class=\"ea-header\"><a class=\"collapsed\" id=\"ea-header-29552\" role=\"button\" data-sptoggle=\"spcollapse\" data-sptarget=\"#collapse29552\" aria-controls=\"collapse29552\" href=\"#\" aria-expanded=\"false\" tabindex=\"0\"><i aria-hidden=\"true\" role=\"presentation\" class=\"ea-expand-icon eap-icon-ea-expand-plus\"><\/i> Distribution of surveys<\/a><\/h3><div class=\"sp-collapse spcollapse \" id=\"collapse29552\" data-parent=\"#sp-ea-2955\" role=\"region\" aria-labelledby=\"ea-header-29552\"> <div class=\"ea-body\"><p>All modules are evaluated online using evasys software.<\/p><p>Students are sent an email for every module evaluation they are requested to complete. This email includes a link to the student module evaluation portal (<a href=\"https:\/\/reading.surveys.evasysplus.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>https:\/\/reading.surveys.evasysplus.co.uk\/<\/strong><\/a>) where a student will find all module evaluations which are open to them at that time. Should a student experience any problems with the portal, a unique link is also provided to take a student directly to the survey for that module.<\/p><p>The module convenor will receive an email notification when a survey has opened in addition to a notification mid-way through the module (if the response rate is below 50%), and when the survey has closed.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"ea-card sp-ea-single\"><h3 class=\"ea-header\"><a class=\"collapsed\" id=\"ea-header-29553\" role=\"button\" data-sptoggle=\"spcollapse\" data-sptarget=\"#collapse29553\" aria-controls=\"collapse29553\" href=\"#\" aria-expanded=\"false\" tabindex=\"0\"><i aria-hidden=\"true\" role=\"presentation\" class=\"ea-expand-icon eap-icon-ea-expand-plus\"><\/i> Module Evaluation Staff Portal<\/a><\/h3><div class=\"sp-collapse spcollapse \" id=\"collapse29553\" data-parent=\"#sp-ea-2955\" role=\"region\" aria-labelledby=\"ea-header-29553\"> <div class=\"ea-body\"><p>The Module Evaluation Staff Portal gives module convenors an overview of the surveys for which they are responsible. It can be found at <a href=\"https:\/\/reading.evasysplus.co.uk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>https:\/\/reading.evasysplus.co.uk<\/strong><\/a> and staff should log in using their University username and password. Within the Portal, staff are able to:<\/p><p><strong>\u00b7 Access information on current evaluations (e.g. open\/close dates and number of participants)<\/strong><\/p><p><strong>\u00b7 View a copy of the survey<\/strong><\/p><p><strong>\u00b7 View a QR code for the student module evaluation portal (which can be displayed to students)<\/strong><\/p><p><strong>\u00b7 Monitor live response rates<\/strong><\/p><p><strong>\u00b7 Download a copy of the evaluation report once the survey has closed<\/strong><\/p><p><strong>\u00b7 Close the feedback loop with students (please see section below)<\/strong><\/p><p><strong>\u00b7 Download reports for historical surveys<\/strong><\/p><p>To encourage student engagement, module convenors are encouraged to open the Module Evaluation Staff Portal during a suitable teaching session and display the QR code to students. Students can scan this QR code to access their evaluation. Module convenors can monitor completion in class. Additional members of the teaching team (who do not have access to the Staff Portal) can use the QR code found here.<\/p><p><img class=\"alignnone size-thumbnail wp-image-3145\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/curriculum-framework\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/35\/2024\/11\/SSP-QR-1-e1732031244742-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/p><p>Following correspondence with Schools, and individual module convenors, who achieved high response rates in Autumn 2021, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reading.ac.uk\/cqsd\/-\/media\/project\/functions\/cqsd\/documents\/modules\/module-evaluation-best-practice-guide.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>best practice guide<\/strong><\/a> was developed to share ideas on encouraging student participation with module evaluations.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"ea-card sp-ea-single\"><h3 class=\"ea-header\"><a class=\"collapsed\" id=\"ea-header-29555\" role=\"button\" data-sptoggle=\"spcollapse\" data-sptarget=\"#collapse29555\" aria-controls=\"collapse29555\" href=\"#\" aria-expanded=\"false\" tabindex=\"0\"><i aria-hidden=\"true\" role=\"presentation\" class=\"ea-expand-icon eap-icon-ea-expand-plus\"><\/i> Closing the feedback loop<\/a><\/h3><div class=\"sp-collapse spcollapse \" id=\"collapse29555\" data-parent=\"#sp-ea-2955\" role=\"region\" aria-labelledby=\"ea-header-29555\"> <div class=\"ea-body\"><p>It\u2019s important that we demonstrate to students that we have listened to their feedback, so it is crucial that we close the feedback loop following an end-of-module evaluation.<\/p><p>Once Module Convenors have received the end of evaluation report, they should log into the Module Evaluation Staff Portal and complete the reflection questions in response to the comments raised. This is a two stage process: once convenors have answered the reflection questions, they should tick the \u2018reflections ready to be published\u2019 box and then click \u2018Send Student Feedback Report\u2019. This will distribute the quantitative data and reflections to all students via email. These reports should not be shared with students as they contain the free text comments.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"ea-card sp-ea-single\"><h3 class=\"ea-header\"><a class=\"collapsed\" id=\"ea-header-29561\" role=\"button\" data-sptoggle=\"spcollapse\" data-sptarget=\"#collapse29561\" aria-controls=\"collapse29561\" href=\"#\" aria-expanded=\"false\" tabindex=\"0\"><i aria-hidden=\"true\" role=\"presentation\" class=\"ea-expand-icon eap-icon-ea-expand-plus\"><\/i> Confidentiality of responses<\/a><\/h3><div class=\"sp-collapse spcollapse \" id=\"collapse29561\" data-parent=\"#sp-ea-2956\" role=\"region\" aria-labelledby=\"ea-header-29561\"> <div class=\"ea-body\"><p>Students complete module evaluations confidentially and their name\/student ID will not be included in any reports distributed to Schools.<\/p><p>In the unlikely event that a student becomes identifiable through the qualitative feedback given, they must not be approached, and the feedback should be treated anonymously.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"ea-card sp-ea-single\"><h3 class=\"ea-header\"><a class=\"collapsed\" id=\"ea-header-29562\" role=\"button\" data-sptoggle=\"spcollapse\" data-sptarget=\"#collapse29562\" aria-controls=\"collapse29562\" href=\"#\" aria-expanded=\"false\" tabindex=\"0\"><i aria-hidden=\"true\" role=\"presentation\" class=\"ea-expand-icon eap-icon-ea-expand-plus\"><\/i> How the data will be disseminated within Schools<\/a><\/h3><div class=\"sp-collapse spcollapse \" id=\"collapse29562\" data-parent=\"#sp-ea-2956\" role=\"region\" aria-labelledby=\"ea-header-29562\"> <div class=\"ea-body\"><p>School\/Department Directors of Teaching and Learning (and other senior colleagues as approved by the DTL) will have access to a copy of the evaluation report once a survey has closed. They will also have access to a Module Evaluation dashboard. Quantitative data are also shared with Support Centres for onward distribution at Board of Studies and Student Experience meetings and Student-Staff Partnership Groups.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"ea-card sp-ea-single\"><h3 class=\"ea-header\"><a class=\"collapsed\" id=\"ea-header-29502\" role=\"button\" data-sptoggle=\"spcollapse\" data-sptarget=\"#collapse29502\" aria-controls=\"collapse29502\" href=\"#\" aria-expanded=\"false\" tabindex=\"0\"><i aria-hidden=\"true\" role=\"presentation\" class=\"ea-expand-icon eap-icon-ea-expand-plus\"><\/i> Information for DTLs<\/a><\/h3><div class=\"sp-collapse spcollapse spcollapse\" id=\"collapse29502\" data-parent=\"#sp-ea-2950\" role=\"region\" aria-labelledby=\"ea-header-29502\"> <div class=\"ea-body\"><p><strong>The Module Evaluation Administrative Portal<\/strong> gives Directors of Teaching and Learning (and other staff as approved by the relevant DTL) an overview of all evaluations within their School. It provides DTLs with greater autonomy over their data and removes the requirement for the manual generation of reports by CQSD.<\/p><p>Guidance documents on the Administrative Portal are available on the Module Evaluation MS Teams channel.
