Things to consider might include the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The programme team adopting a default menu structure to increase consistency and assist all students in navigating courses. (Read CQSD's <a href=\"https:\/\/bb.reading.ac.uk\/bbcswebdav\/institution\/Services\/CQSD\/TEL\/Guides\/Staff\/Blackboard%20course%20menu.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><u>suggested default menu structure<\/u><\/a> with suggestions for what each section could contain).<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Naming content areas, folders and items meaningfully so students can find relevant information quickly.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Arranging information by importance.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Adding succinct descriptions to items so students know what they will find when they open it and how you expect them to engage with it.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Keeping resources and web links up-to-date.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Hiding empty folders and unused tools.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Making sure the layout and availability of content complements the delivery of the module.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Stating how you intend to use the Blackboard course and setting expectations for engagement.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Signposting where to find essential content.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Making sure that if links open in a new window this is clearly stated.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Being aware that external content may not always be accessible.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Blackboard is designed to be accessible and is developed in accordance with internationally recognised web content guidelines.
