SUMMARY:Remaking Marking: Electronic Management of Assessment Conference
DESCRIPTION:Remaking Marking: Electronic Management of Assessment National Conference\nOn September 4th 2018\, the EMA Programme is hosting a one-day national conference\, at the University of Reading\, exploring electronic management of assessment across the UK HE sector. \nThis event brings together speakers from five UK institutions to support dissemination of knowledge and the sharing of good practice surrounding EMA defined broadly to include all aspects of technology enhanced assessment. We will explore the challenges and opportunities surrounding the introduction of EMA including change design\, effect on policy and process\, the optimal use of existing technology and evidenced impact on the staff and student experience. The event includes presentations focused on both online term time assessment and (although not within the scope of Reading’s own EMA Programme) digital exams. \nThe conference is being run in association with the new Advance HE Interdisciplinary Network for Research-informed Assessment Practices group and is taking place in the Meadow Suite from 10.30-15.45. University of Reading colleagues are warmly welcomed and are able to sign up using Employee Self Service. Colleagues external to Reading are able to register their attendance by e-mailing ema@reading.ac.uk. A vegetarian lunch will be provided to all attendees but please do contact us if you have any specific dietary requirements. \nConference organisation is led by Emma Mayhew (Academic Director of the EMA Programme) and Maddi Davies (Academic Partner within the EMA Programme). We will be providing further details here about the event\, including speaker biographies and abstracts\, throughout the Summer. \nThere is no fee for attending this conference for either internal or external colleagues although places are limited. SUMMARY:TEL Training Session: EMA Blackboard Groups (For Support Staff)
DESCRIPTION:This session is specifically designed for Administrators and will focus on the Groups tool within Blackboard. It will cover instructions and hands on experience to provide the skills necessary to prepare Administrators for their role in the process of e-Submission Feedback and Grading (eSFG) within the EMA project. \nBy the end of the session you will be able to:\n• set up and manage groups in a Blackboard course\n• set up group assignments in Blackboard\n• experience how group marks and feedback are managed in the Grade Centre\n• understand what other Blackboard assignment features can be used in association with groups. \nPrerequisite: It is an advantage to have attended the Blackboard Assignment Tool session before attending Blackboard Groups \nTEL EMA: Blackboard Groups is part of the e-Assessment suite of sessions. Other sessions in this suite include Turnitin Assignment Tool\, Blackboard Assignment Tool and BB Grade Centre. This is complemented by a suite of online tutorials in Blackboard which\, taken together\, equips staff with the knowledge needed to start using Blackboard effectively in line with the EMA University wide roll out. \nThis session aligns with A4\, K4\, of the UKPSF. \nSign up
