University recognised in latest green rankings

Our great strides in reducing our carbon emissions have been reflected in the government’s latest carbon management rankings, which sees the University ranked in the top 20 green universities in the UK.

The University has been ranked 17th out of 128 universities and colleges, in the Environment Agencies latest CRC Performance League Table.  This recognises both the significant acheivement of reducing our year-on-year carbon emissions by 10.3%, as well as our strong energy management practices that will ensure we continue to do so.

We have invested over £1 million in a whole range of carbon reduction measures, from improved insulation, improved control of heating and ventilation systems and upgrades to lighting.   Our solar panels have also produced 44,000 kWh in their first year alone, and we work continuously to raise awareness among staff and students of environmental excellence.
