Whiteknights Energy Centre

The Energy Centre houses a Combined Heat and Power (CHP) engine, which generates electricity on site while making the most of the heat produced. This produces low carbon energy compared with traditional power stations, as heat isn't lost in cooling towers and electricity doesn't have to be transmitted long distances. The heat generated both from the CHP and four new efficient boilers is fed around the campus in an underground network of pipes and used to provide heat and hot water in many of our buildings. Heat generated can also be saved in two large thermal storage tanks until it's needed. Want to know more? Email us.
