Our Academic Development and Enhancement Team facilitates a number of<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u202f<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.reading.ac.uk\/cqsd\/communities-and-networks\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Teaching and Learning fora <\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">for the sharing of ideas and best practice. It will guide students through using a life-centred design toolkit to research and plan an action to help address a sustainability or climate emergency issue of their choice.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">To help students to work through and gain best value from the toolkit, the course features a case study that showcases how the University\u2019s Catering\/Dining Services team has approached the challenge of reducing food waste\u00a0 per meal\/plate whilst \u2018<\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">providing nutritious, sustainable, exciting and inclusive dining experiences that promote the well-being of our campus community and support local and ethical food systems, that are financially sustainable.\u2019<\/span><\/i><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Students finish the course feeling more informed, empowered to make a difference and able to evidence the transferable skills they've developed to future employers.\u00a0 <\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Further learning opportunities<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> for students to develop their knowledges are offered as part of the FutureLearn Campus initiative, allowing students to enjoy free unlimited access to a collection of\u202f<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.reading.ac.uk\/planet\/climate-resources\/short-online-courses\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">short online courses<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u202fdeveloped by experts from the University of Reading and partners from EIT Food and the Royal Meteorological Society. The courses deal with topics as diverse as cutting food waste, teaching climate and sustainability in primary schools and using systems thinking to tackle the climate and biodiversity crisis.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">In addition to <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">key modules<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> embedded in programmes on climate change and sustainability, several existing modules are available to all students. Environmental Science have access to an extensive <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.reading.ac.uk\/ges\/facilities\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">range of facilities<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> that will support their learning.
