How does it work?<\/h3>\n

What sort of items are suitable for re-sale through UniGreenScheme?<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/b><\/p>\n

UniGreenScheme are interested in a range of equipment and items from catering, lab, maintenance and sports equipment to office consumables, as well as more unusual items such as technical models or specialist furniture.<\/p>\n

Items need to be in working condition, although some broken items may be suitable for re-sale for spare parts on a case-by-case basis.\u00a0 Even equipment that may have been superseded by newer models at the University may be suitable for re-use elsewhere through UniGreenScheme!\u00a0 UniGreenScheme have published a useful guide<\/a>\u00a0which contains more detailed information and lists the types of items that they will take.\u00a0 They cannot take data-holding equipment (e.g. PCs) as these need to be disposed of securely<\/a>.\u00a0 UniGreenScheme also have an online shop<\/a> which gives a good idea of the types of items they are interested in.\u00a0 In some cases, UniGreenScheme may also be able to assist with disassembling bulky equipment to enable collection.<\/div>\n<\/p>\n

How much will I receive back?<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/b><\/p>\n

UniGreenScheme operate on a profit-share basis.\u00a0 If no profit is made from the sale, they guarantee that no charges will be made to the University.\u00a0 Where a profit is made, you receive an equal share of the proceeds after management costs (e.g. collection and processing).\u00a0 For example: if a microscope was sold for \u00a3200 and there were \u00a350 of management costs, the profit from the sale would be \u00a3150.\u00a0 You would receive an equal share of this i.e. \u00a375.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p>\n

Can my space be cleared quickly?<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/strong><\/p>\n

Absolutely.\u00a0 UniGreenScheme collect items and store them off-site whilst they are awaiting sale, which means that you don't have to!\u00a0 This helps to free up valuable storage space at the University.\u00a0 UniGreenScheme will also collect items in-situ when requested, meaning that you do not need to double-handle items by moving them elsewhere before collection takes place.<\/p><\/div><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

How to make a booking<\/h3>\n

Check if UniGreenScheme can re-sell your item.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/strong><\/p>\n

Email collections@unigreenscheme.co.uk<\/a> to find out if they can potentially re-sell your item, or use the contact details on their website<\/a>.\u00a0 In some cases, they are able to help with information about expected\/guide re-sale prices, but please note these are not guaranteed as they depend on current market conditions.<\/div>\n<\/p>\n

Get the correct permission to resell.<\/span><\/p>\n

You will need to ensure that you get permission from your Head of School\/Department to send items to UniGreenScheme.\u00a0 You will also need to get permission from Procurement and Finance, so please contact your Category Manager in the Procurement team by sending an email via procurement@reading.ac.uk<\/a>, with full details of the item(s) that you want to UniGreenScheme to take.<\/div>\n<\/p>\n

Complete the booking form.<\/span><\/p>\n

How will I receive payment for items when they are sold?<\/h3>\n

If you are eligible for profit-sharing once an item has been sold, UniGreenScheme will send you a credit note - once received, contact your finance administrator for assistance in processing this.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>

What if I have found another organisation to pass the equipment on to?<\/h3>\n
\n\t

If you have found an external organisation to whom you want to sell or donate the item(s), please contact your Category Manager in the Procurement team to discuss getting permission for releasing unwanted University equipment to the third-party organisation.
