The Department for Education (DfE) has opened applications for its Youth Sustainability Champion positions, a national sustainability leadership opportunity which University of Reading students can apply for.<\/span><\/p>\n

About the Youth Sustainability Champions scheme<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Are you 18-23 and passionate about sustainability and education? The Department for Education are recruiting for the next cohort of Youth Sustainability Champions (formerly Youth Focal Points) \u2013 three young people who will help shape education policy and provide a youth voice mechanism in heart of policy making.<\/p>\n

This is an incredible two-year opportunity to get involved in national decision making alongside civil servants and government ministers, further and champion youth climate action, and meet young people across the country and beyond. You will be supported all the way by SOS-UK, the youth-led climate justice charity, and receive an annual stipend of \u00a31,000. The current holders of these roles have attended\u00a0United Nations COP meetings, spoken at events and collaborated with experts around the world. You can find out more about their experience in these roles on the SOS-UK website<\/a>.<\/p>\n

You do not need any experience, just a passion for sustainability, education and the power and potential of young people. Applicants must be aged 18-23 on 1st July 2025, and based in England. We are particularly interested in applications from young people who are currently or have been recently studying in a vocational or technical setting, but those from all backgrounds are welcome to apply.<\/p>\n
