We\u2019re pleased to announce that new EV chargers in Car Park 6 and Car Park 8 at Whiteknights Campus are now fully operational and available for public use. You can read more about the Travel Plan <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/sustainability\/sustainable-travel\/travel-plan-monitoring\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h5><strong>What\u2019s New?<\/strong><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>Car Park 6 &#8211; 6 EV charging bays, available for public use.<\/li>\n<li>Car Park 8 &#8211; 8 EV charging bays, also available for public use.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Altogether, these additional 14 charging bays significantly increase charging capacity on campus. Therefore making it easier for staff, students and visitors to charge their vehicles while on site.<\/p>\n<h5><strong>Charging Provider &#8211; Amp EV<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>Alongside the infrastructure expansion, we\u2019ve also switched our EV charging provider from BP Pulse to Amp EV. This change not only delivers a more user-friendly experience but also improves consistency across our charging network.<\/p>\n<p>To use the chargers, you\u2019ll need to download the Amp EV app. QR codes are clearly displayed on each charger to make access quick and straightforward if you haven\u2019t downloaded the app in advance.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/apps.apple.com\/us\/app\/amp-ev\/id1585336520\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">AMP EV &#8211; Apple App Store<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=uk.co.ampev.driverapp&amp;pli=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">AMP EV &#8211; Google Play<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Standard parking charges continue to apply where relevant, and we kindly ask that drivers move their vehicle once charging is complete to ensure fair access for others.<\/p>\n<h5><strong>Why It Matters<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>Expanding EV charging infrastructure is a key action within our Five-Year Travel Plan and supports the University\u2019s wider carbon reduction commitments.<\/p>\n<p>As electric vehicle ownership continues to grow across the UK, providing reliable, accessible charging facilities is essential in enabling lower-emission travel choices.
