Our achievements in meeting our 35% carbon reduction target have been recognised with a shortlisting in the Carbon Reduction category of the EAUC<\/a>‘s Green Gown Awards<\/a>, which recognise the exceptional sustainability initiatives being undertaken by universities and colleges across the UK.<\/p>\n

Since 2011, we have reduced our annual carbon emissions from 44,000 tCO2<\/sub> to just over 28,500 tCO2<\/sub>, making us the leader amongst research-intensive universities<\/strong> for delivering sustained reductions in our emissions.*\u00a0 Our wide-ranging programme has delivered over \u00a317 million of financial savings for the University, whilst delivering more efficiency buildings, improving building comfort and upgrading science laboratory facilities.<\/p>\n

Sir David Bell, University of Reading Vice-Chancellor, said \u201cWe are delighted to be nominated for a Green Gown Award again this year, in recognition of our significant achievements in reducing the carbon emissions from our operations. This further reinforces the commitment of the University to sustainability as well as our ability to deliver all that we have promised.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n
