The University is working with Avanti Cycling in a bid to encourage staff and students to ensure you have the right knowledge, skills and equipment to keep yourselves and others safe while cycling on campus and on the roads. We\u2019re offering free cycle training at a variety of different levels \u2013 from complete beginners who need to learn to ride a bike safely, through road tips for experienced cyclists, to experienced foreign cyclists who may just need a top-up on UK road laws. We\u2019re also offering free cycle lights to everyone who takes part! Cycle Skills Flyer<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>

Most people\u2019s thought when they hear \u2018cycle training\u2019 is \u2018that\u2019s for kids\u2019 or \u2018for people who can\u2019t ride a bike\u2019, or \u2018boring\u2019. Please let us prove those thoughts wrong! We promise you if you\u2019ve never taken cycle training as an adult you will definitely learn something, and have fun at the same time. What have you got to lose? We\u2019ll even throw in a set of cycle lights for even more encouragement. Sessions are generally held on Wednesday afternoons, but other times may be possible if you get in touch with us.<\/p>\n

Avanti\u2019s lead and main cycle trainer for this project is Karen Robertson, and she will be working closely with the University\u2019s Sustainable Travel Coordinator, Karen Stanbridge, to encourage as many of you as possible to take advantage of this great opportunity.<\/p>\n

Karen (Robertson) will also be leading some relaxed lunchtime guided rides, so you can take a break from the computer and explore the local area a little. You don\u2019t need a bike to participate as our campus is well served by Readybikes \u2013 we might even cover the hire fee if you book your place in advance.<\/p>\n
