This will give you time to get support if you have a technical issue.<\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/tel-support-for-students\/2021\/02\/02\/blackboard-tests-how-to-check-the-test-settings\/\">Check the test settings<\/a> at the beginning of the test<\/strong>\u00a0to make sure you are aware of any restrictions that have been applied.<\/li>\n<li>There will usually be details on your Blackboard course of who to contact &#8211; for example the Module Convenor or Programme Administration team &#8211; if you have queries about the content of a test.<\/li>\n<li>Most tests are <strong>timed. <\/strong>Once you have <strong>clicked &#8216;Begin&#8217; <\/strong>you\u00a0need to\u00a0<strong>complete the test within the specified time.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>You can only <strong>take the test once <\/strong>(unless otherwise stated).<\/li>\n<li>Click &#8216;<strong>Submit&#8217;<\/strong> when you have <strong>finished the test <\/strong>or when <strong>prompted when the time expires.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>You <strong>do not receive an email receipt<\/strong>\u00a0after you submit.<\/li>\n<li>For Summer 2022 exams which are delivered through a Blackboard Test,\u00a0<strong>immediately after submitting<\/strong> you will be able to <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/tel-support-for-students\/2022\/03\/03\/take-home-exams-checking-that-your-submission-was-successful\/\">view the answers you submitted<\/a>.<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong>If you believe there was a problem with your submission, you should email <a href=\"mailto:online-exam@reading.ac.uk\">online-exam@reading.ac.uk<\/a> immediately, including or attaching the answers you intended to submit.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; A wired connection is usually more reliable than a wireless connection.<\/li>\n<li>Complete the test using\u00a0<strong>Chrome <\/strong>or<strong> Firefox<\/strong> as your web browser.<br \/>\nUse the Blackboard\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/Blackboard-Ultra-Browser-Checker\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Browser checker<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0to check your browser\u2019s compatibility with Blackboard.<\/li>\n<li>To avoid issues with test questions not displaying properly, before you start a test\n<ul>\n<li>Go to your browser settings and <strong>allow all pop-ups<\/strong>\u00a0(run this\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/Blackboard-Ultra-Browser-Checker\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Browser compatibility checker<\/a>\u00a0to check whether pop-ups are being blocked)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Clear your browser cache\u00a0<\/strong>(see the DTS Help page\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reading.ac.uk\/digital-technology-services\/it-help-and-support\/clearing-your-browser-cache-and-cookies\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Clearing your browser cache and cookies<\/a>\u00a0if you need help)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Disable or remove browser extensions<\/strong> (e.g. Ad-blocker or McAfee).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Do not\u00a0open the test in multiple tabs<\/strong>. This can cause loss of data.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Check the test settings at the beginning of the test<\/strong> &#8211; see\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/tel-support-for-students\/2021\/02\/02\/blackboard-tests-how-to-check-the-test-settings\/\"><strong>How to check the Test settings<\/strong><\/a><br \/>\nIf <strong>Force Completion<\/strong> or <strong>Auto-Submit<\/strong> has been enabled, or <strong>backtracking disabled<\/strong>: do not refresh the page or close the browser window while you take the Test.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Use the navigation buttons provided in the test screen. Do not use\u00a0the browser navigation buttons<\/strong> (especially the browser &#8216;Back&#8217; arrow) this can take you out of the test.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Do not leave the browser window inactive<\/strong> for a long period of time during the test. If it is not enabled, you can exit the test and return to it.<br \/><strong>Be Aware<\/strong>: in a timed test the timer will continue counting down if you have left the test.<\/li><li>If it is <strong>Password Protected<\/strong>. A member or TEL Support staff will get back to you promptly during normal working hours. Essential technical advice Ensure you have access to a laptop or desktop computer. Do not use the Blackboard mobile app to take the Test. Some question types are not mobile compatible and will not display correctly on these devices.\u00a0Formatting such as bold and underline do not display in the app, which may mean that you cannot answer all of the questions. If you are\u00a0using a laptop, ensure it is plugged in\u00a0and not running from a battery. Check your internet connection. A wired connection is usually more reliable than a wireless connection. Complete the test using\u00a0Chrome or Firefox as your web browser. Use the Blackboard\u00a0Browser checker\u00a0to check your browser\u2019s compatibility with Blackboard. To avoid issues with test questions not displaying properly, before you start a test Go to your browser settings and allow all pop-ups\u00a0(run this\u00a0Browser compatibility checker\u00a0to check whether pop-ups are being blocked) Clear your browser cache\u00a0(see the DTS Help page\u00a0Clearing your browser cache and cookies\u00a0if you need help) Disable or remove browser extensions (e.g. Ad-blocker or McAfee).
