Awaiting the outcome of an Assessment Adjustment request – what to do!

You should still submit what work you have done through ‘Ask a Question’. Do not use the submission points in Blackboard. It is better to submit work in an unfinished state, rather than fail to submit any work, so that you are not penalised for late submission.

If you have not received an answer to your request by the date of your requested extended deadline, please follow these instructions:

Submit your work to ‘Ask a Question’

If you haven’t received an answer:

  1. Before the original deadline:
    • Submit any draft work via ‘Ask a Question’.
    • Do not submit your work in Blackboard.
  2. By the requested extended deadline:
    • Keep work on your assignment up to the deadline.
    • Submit your work via ‘Ask a Question’ by the extended deadline.

How to submit work to ‘Ask a Question’

  1. Use the category: Dissertation Help, Coursework Assignments
  2. Title your enquiry: Assessment submission for [MODULE CODE] (deadline: [DATE]) – AA outcome pending

Anonymous submissions

  • Follow the assignment instructions carefully, especially naming conventions for your work.
  • ‘Ask a Question’ submissions aren’t anonymous but the marker does not view this. Following the outcome of a request, when your work is submitted it is marked anonymously, where possible.

What to do based on the outcome of a request

  • If approved: You’ll submit to Blackboard by your new extended deadline. The draft sent via ‘Ask a Question’ will be ignored.
  • If approval is received after the extended deadline, the Support Centre team will upload your work to Blackboard. The date/time of your submission in ‘Ask a Question’ is used.
  • If rejected: Your draft will be uploaded to Blackboard by the Support Centre team. The first submission date/time via ‘Ask a Question’ is used.
  • In either case, if you submitted work within the relevant deadline used based on the outcome, no late penalty is applied.

Already submitted to Blackboard before requesting an adjustment?

  • Contact your Support Centre via ‘Ask a Question’ to pause marking until your request is reviewed.
  • If the submission is anonymous, include your submission ID or number.
