Turnitin Similarity Reports in Blackboard Assignments

View your similarity report

There is an integration with Blackboard Assignment tool which allows Turnitin similarity reports to generate for Blackboard Assignment submission (the tool used for Video submissions or multiple files).

If this has been turned on for your submission you will can follow these steps to view your similarity report;


Has my submission point set-up to allow me to see the similarity report?

When you open your Blackboard Assignment link to submit your work you will find information about your assessment including two key facts regarding the similarity report.

  • Number of attempts allowed
  • If Turnitin has been enabled.

When you submit your work a message will pop-up asking you to agree to the Turnitin “End User Licensing Agreement” .



A receipt will be available to download, but will also be emailed to the student.

After Submission

Once you have submitted the assignment, the panel on the right-hand side of the screen will indicate that the Originality Report is being processed.

Once the similarity report has generated the panel will show as “Originality processing is complete.

View the Report

Once the originality processing is complete you can click view submission, which will open the your submitted work in the marking screen.

In the top right-hand side of their submitted work a button will appear with your similarity score.

Click on this button to open the report in Turnitin. This will open in a new window.
