If you feel that being able to revisit a teaching session would support your learning, you can ask the member of staff leading the session for permission to make a personal recording.<\/p>\n

The Student Policy for the Recording of Teaching and Learning Activities<\/strong> explains when you need permission to record, and the responsibilities that apply when you make your own recording.<\/p>\n

How to ask for permission<\/h2>\n

You can contact the member of staff leading the session to explain that you would find it helpful to make a recording. You do not need to share personal information or explain your circumstances in detail.<\/p>\n

You can write your own message or use the template below. You can also adapt it to suit your circumstances.<\/p>\n

Dear [Lecturer\u2019s name],<\/p>\n

I am writing to ask whether I could record the [lectures\/sessions] for [module name].<\/p>\n

Due to my current circumstances, being able to revisit the session afterwards would help support my learning. If possible, I would be grateful for permission to record sessions for the duration of the semester, but I am also happy to discuss this on a session-by-session basis if that would be preferable.<\/p>\n

In accordance with the Student Policy for the Recording of Teaching and Learning Activities, the recording would be for my personal study only. I will not share the recording with others, and I will delete it once I no longer needed for my studies.<\/p>\n

If there are any parts of the session where recording would not be appropriate, I would be happy to pause the recording if needed. Please let me know if you would like to discuss further.<\/p>\n
