Turnitin: Send Submission Reminder (Email non-submitters)

We have switched to a new version of Turnitin.

The new version of Turnitin is being used

  • for all assignments due 1st August or later – including coursework resubmissions and resit exams
  • on all Blackboard courses for 2022/23.

This article relates only to the old version of Turnitin.

For Turnitin LTI assignments, send a reminder via the Blackboard Grade Centre.

Go into the relevant Turnitin assignment inbox via Control Panel > Course Tools > Turnitin Assignments.

Select the assignment you wish to review from the list of Turnitin Assignments.

You will see the Email non-submitters link just above the submissions list. Clicking on link allows you to compose an email which will be sent to any student on the course who has not yet submitted to the Turnitin assignment.

Dear Student

If you have an agreed extension for this assessment, or you are not formally assessed on this module, please ignore this email.

You have not yet made a submission for this assignment.

  • If you receive this email before the deadline please submit your assessment as soon as possible.
  • If you receive this email after the deadline you are still able to submit your work but a late penalty will apply.

You are advised to submit work in an unfinished state, rather than fail to submit any work.

Apply for an exceptional circumstances request

If you have encountered problems that are outside your control which have meant that you have been unable to submit your work, I encourage you to submit an exceptional circumstances request.

Students must normally submit any exceptional circumstances request before the deadline for submission of the coursework; late exceptional circumstances requests will be considered only if there is a valid, evidenced reason (hospitalisation, incarceration or equivalent physical or mental incapacity).

Important information!In order to ensure students are not missed out, please click on Roster Sync before sending a non-submission email. This synchronises Blackboard with Turnitin, and ensures that the class list in Turnitin is up-to-date. Roster Sync is located above the submissions list close to Email non-submitters.

Important information!If you have an assignment which only needs to be taken by a sub-group of students on your course, Email non-submitters may not be an appropriate tool to use, as the email will be sent to all non-submitting students on the Blackboard course (including those who are not required to submit to this assignment).

 

Important information!If there are multiple instructors on your Blackboard course, please be aware the email which students receive may appear to come from someone other than you (i.e. from another staff member who is enrolled on the course). There is no way at present to control this. However the email will always come from <noreply@turnitin.com> and you can write in the email how students should reply.
