Blackboard Learn: How and when are students enrolled on courses?

Student enrolments on Blackboard courses are controlled by enrolment data in RISIS.

When students complete their enrolment online (when their enrolment is no longer Provisional) that triggers enrolment on the relevant Blackboard courses.

Enrolment data is pulled in overnight Monday-Friday, so there can be a 24 hour delay before a student’s RISIS enrolments are reflected in Blackboard.

In some cases the delay might be longer than this: because of the way data is handled, a student enrolled in RISIS after 5pm will not have their enrolments updated in Blackboard until the day after next; a student enrolled in RISIS after 5pm on Friday would not have their enrolments updated in Blackboard until the following Tuesday morning.

For an explanation of the process see this interactive model.

Please note that no enrolments are pulled through from RISIS into Blackboard until the academic year has been updated in RISIS. This normally happens in the first week of August, but the precise date is variable.
