This is the total amount of text that has been matched to other sources in an assignment.<\/p>\n<p>The overall percentage score is known as the Similarity Index.<\/p>\n<p>This \u2018at a glance\u2019 guide should not be used as a measure of plagiarism. Even a 1% score could potentially be plagiarised content.<\/p>\n<h3>Turn the Similarity layer on and off<\/h3>\n<p>Click the <strong>Show \/ Hide Similarity Layer<\/strong> button at the head of the red Similarity toolbar.<\/p>\n<p>Use this to switch both the Instructor Feedback and Similarity layers on and off whilst marking.<\/p>\n<p><img data-attachment-id=\"450\" list of sources you\u2019ve excluded from the report.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>The Match Overview<\/h2>\n<p>Click the <strong>Match Overview<\/strong> button to view a list of the different sources where matched text was found. <strong>Each match<\/strong> is <strong>numbered<\/strong> and <strong>colour coded<\/strong> in the Match Overview panel for easy reference.<\/p>\n<p><img the source of a match<\/h3>\n<p>The Match Overview panel shows a list of the individual matches, with a suggested most likely source and a separate percentage score for each of these, as a proportion of the assignment\u2019s total text.<\/p>\n<h3>Navigate to a specific match on a student\u2019s paper:<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Click a source of a match in the Match Overview panel to jump to the highlighted text on the student\u2019s paper.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3>Show an individual match and possible sources:<\/h3>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li>Click on the View Match Breakdown arrow to the right of a This window highlights where the match has been made in the original source text. Turnitin sends them the text of the paper in an email and they are asked to forward the email to the person requesting access.
