{"id":6170,"date":"2019-10-11T12:34:14","date_gmt":"2019-10-11T12:34:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/tel-support\/?p=6170"},"modified":"2021-10-05T07:57:56","modified_gmt":"2021-10-05T07:57:56","slug":"blackboard-blogs-journals-and-wikis-editing-settings-applied-by-ema-integration","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/tel-support\/2019\/10\/11\/blackboard-blogs-journals-and-wikis-editing-settings-applied-by-ema-integration\/","title":{"rendered":"Blackboard Blogs, Journals and Wikis: editing settings applied by EMA Integration"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Settings applied by the EMA Integration<\/h2>\n<blockquote><p><strong>Change for 2021\/22:<\/strong> the integration will now create a Weighted Total Column, rather than a Blackboard Blog, Journal or Wiki<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>If you are managing a module where assessment is delivered via a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/tel-support\/2018\/10\/25\/mode-of-submission-blackboard-blog\/\">Blackboard Blog<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/tel-support\/2018\/10\/25\/mode-of-submission-blackboard-journals\/\">Blackboard Journal<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/tel-support\/2018\/10\/25\/mode-of-submission-blackboard-wiki\/\">Blackboard Wiki<\/a><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>The programme administrator will set this up as the Mode of Submission in RISIS<\/li>\n<li>The EMA Integration will then create a Weighted Total Column in the relevant Blackboard course, and apply certain settings automatically.\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Points Possible\u00a0<\/strong>= Points possible specified in RISIS.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Due Date<\/strong> = Due date and time specified in RISIS.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>The module convenor and programme administrator should agree who will create the required Blog, Journal or Wiki, and in which area of the course.<br \/>\nThis should be the &#8216;Assessment&#8217; area, unless there are compelling reasons for placing it elsewhere.<\/li>\n<li>The programme administrator will be responsible for applying certain settings\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Mark Journal<\/strong> (or Blog or Wiki) = Yes<br \/>\n(i.e. this will be graded, and a column will be created in the Grade Centre)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Display After<\/strong> date and time =\u00a0 the date from which you wish students to start creating entries.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Display Until<\/strong> date and time =\u00a0 due date-time as set in RISIS (or later, if you wish to allow late submissions).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Hide the Grade Centre column<\/strong> from students.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>Setting up your Blog, Journal or Wiki<\/h2>\n<p>The process to set up these up is the same regardless of whether the blog etc. is being assessed. Changing settings via the Control Panel<\/h3>\n<blockquote><p>The example below uses a Blackboard Journal, but the same rules apply also to Blogs and Wikis.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Go to\u00a0<strong>Control Panel &gt;
