You can also add a Recording tab to the ribbon (see Customize the ribbon).<\/span><\/p><p><img class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-7731\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/30\/2020\/07\/GetImage.png\" alt=\"Ribbon from PowerPoint, focused on Record Slide Show\" width=\"1062\" height=\"126\" \/><\/p><ul><li data-aria-posinset=\"1\" data-aria-level=\"2\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Clicking the upper half of the button starts\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">recording from the current slide<\/span><\/li><li data-aria-posinset=\"2\" data-aria-level=\"2\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Clicking the lower half of the button gives you the option to start from the beginning or from the current slide. To re-record sections of a presentation, find the slide you want to re-record and select \"from current slide\". This will overwrite the narration for that slide.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p><span data-contrast=\"none\">The slide show opens in the Recording window (which looks similar to Presenter view), with buttons at the top left for starting, pausing, and stopping the recording.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span data-contrast=\"none\">Click the round, red button (or press R on your keyboard) when you are ready to start the recording, after a three-second countdown.<\/span><\/p><p><span data-contrast=\"none\">Be aware, PowerPoint will not record sound during transitions between slides. Take a small pause in your narration before moving to the next slide.<\/span><\/p><ul><li data-aria-posinset=\"1\" data-aria-level=\"2\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">The current slide is shown in the main pane of the Recording window.<\/span><\/li><li data-aria-posinset=\"2\" data-aria-level=\"2\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">You can pause the recording at any time by pressing<\/span><\/li><li data-aria-posinset=\"3\" data-aria-level=\"2\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">You can stop the recording any time by pressing\u00a0Alt+S\u00a0on your keyboard.<\/span><\/li><li data-aria-posinset=\"4\" data-aria-level=\"2\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Navigation arrows on either side of the current slide allow you to move to the previous and next slides.<\/span><\/li><li data-aria-posinset=\"5\" data-aria-level=\"2\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">PowerPoint for Microsoft 365 automatically records the time you spend on each slide, including any\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/en-us\/office\/animate-text-or-objects-305a1c94-83b1-4778-8df5-fcf7a9b7b7c6\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Animate text or objects<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0steps that occur, and the use of any triggers on each slide.<\/span><\/li><li data-aria-posinset=\"6\" data-aria-level=\"2\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0The buttons at the lower-right corner of the window allow you to toggle on or off the microphone, camera, and camera preview.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p><span data-contrast=\"none\">To end your recording, select the square Stop button (or press S on your keyboard).<\/span><\/p><p><span data-contrast=\"none\">When you finish recording, you will see either an audio track, or a camera a preview in the lower-right corner of the recorded slides.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><a href=\"https:\/\/support.office.com\/en-us\/article\/record-a-slide-show-with-narration-and-slide-timings-0b9502c6-5f6c-40ae-b1e7-e47d8741161c\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">This Microsoft Office support article covers the method for Office 365, earlier versions of Windows, Mac OS and PowerPoint online<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"none\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"ea-card sp-ea-single\"><h3 class=\"ea-header\"><a class=\"collapsed\" id=\"ea-header-77301\" role=\"button\" data-sptoggle=\"spcollapse\" data-sptarget=\"#collapse77301\" aria-controls=\"collapse77301\" href=\"#\" aria-expanded=\"false\" tabindex=\"0\"><i aria-hidden=\"true\" role=\"presentation\" class=\"ea-expand-icon eap-icon-ea-expand-plus\"><\/i> Record your screen<\/a><\/h3><div class=\"sp-collapse spcollapse \" id=\"collapse77301\" data-parent=\"#sp-ea-7730\" role=\"region\" aria-labelledby=\"ea-header-77301\"> <div class=\"ea-body\"><p><span data-contrast=\"none\">You can also use PowerPoint to\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/support.office.com\/en-us\/article\/record-your-screen-in-powerpoint-0b4c3f65-534c-4cf1-9c59-402b6e9d79d0\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">record a section of your screen,<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0by creating a new, blank slide, clicking on the \u2018Insert\u2019 tab and selecting \u2018Screen Recording\u2019.<\/span><\/p><p><span data-contrast=\"none\">To get ready to record your screen, select\u00a0<\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">Screen Recording<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0on\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">the\u00a0<\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">Insert<\/span><\/b><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0tab<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0of the ribbon. You can also add a\u00a0<\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">Recording tab<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0to the ribbon (see Customize the ribbon).<\/span><\/p><p><img class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-7733\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/30\/2020\/07\/GetImage-1.png\" alt=\"PowerPoint ribbon inert tab with Screen Recording highlighted\" width=\"1491\" height=\"125\" \/><\/p><ol><li data-aria-posinset=\"1\" data-aria-level=\"2\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">On the Control Dock, click\u00a0<\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">Select Area<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0(Windows logo\u00a0key+Shift+A), or, if you want to select the entire screen for recording, press Windows logo\u00a0key+Shift+F\u00a0(only for newer versions of Office).<\/span><\/li><li data-aria-posinset=\"2\" data-aria-level=\"2\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Click and drag to select the area of the screen you want to record.<\/span><\/li><\/ol><p><span data-contrast=\"none\">PowerPoint automatically records the audio and the mouse pointer, so by default those options are selected on the control dock. To turn them off, deselect\u00a0<\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">Audio<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0(Windows logo\u00a0key+Shift+U) and\u00a0<\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">Record Pointer<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0(Windows logo\u00a0key+Shift+O).<\/span><\/p><ol><li data-aria-posinset=\"3\" data-aria-level=\"2\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Click\u00a0<\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">Record<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0(Windows logo\u00a0key+Shift+R).<\/span><\/li><\/ol><p><span data-contrast=\"none\">Unless you pin the Control Dock to the screen, it will slide up into the margin while you record. To make the unpinned Control Dock reappear, point the mouse cursor at the top of the screen.<\/span><\/p><p>You may find these keyboard shortcuts helpful when recording:<\/p><ul><li data-aria-posinset=\"1\" data-aria-level=\"3\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Click\u00a0<\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">Pause<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0to temporarily stop the recording (Windows logo\u00a0key+Shift+R).<\/span><\/li><li data-aria-posinset=\"2\" data-aria-level=\"3\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Click\u00a0<\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">Record<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0to resume recording (Windows logo\u00a0key+Shift+R).<\/span><\/li><li data-aria-posinset=\"3\" data-aria-level=\"3\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Click\u00a0<\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">Stop<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0to end your recording (Windows logo\u00a0key+Shift+Q) (shown below).<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p><span data-contrast=\"none\">The recording will be embedded on the\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">new blank slide you created and can be\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/support.office.com\/en-us\/article\/turn-your-presentation-into-a-video-c140551f-cb37-4818-b5d4-3e30815c3e83\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">can be exported as video<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"none\">.<\/span><\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"ea-card sp-ea-single\"><h3 class=\"ea-header\"><a class=\"collapsed\" id=\"ea-header-77302\" role=\"button\" data-sptoggle=\"spcollapse\" data-sptarget=\"#collapse77302\" aria-controls=\"collapse77302\" href=\"#\" aria-expanded=\"false\" tabindex=\"0\"><i aria-hidden=\"true\" role=\"presentation\" class=\"ea-expand-icon eap-icon-ea-expand-plus\"><\/i> Customise the ribbon<\/a><\/h3><div class=\"sp-collapse spcollapse \" id=\"collapse77302\" data-parent=\"#sp-ea-7730\" role=\"region\" aria-labelledby=\"ea-header-77302\"> <div class=\"ea-body\"><p><span data-contrast=\"none\">If you\u2019d like to have all of your Recording options on one tab on your Ribbon in PowerPoint, you can now add the \u2018Recording\u2019 tab in Office 365.<\/span><\/p><p><span data-contrast=\"none\">To do this, you can either right click on an empty part of the ribbon and select \u2018Customize Ribbon\u2019<\/span><\/p><p><img class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-7735\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/30\/2020\/07\/custom.png\" alt=\"Customize the Ribbon, Collapse the Ribbon options\" width=\"190\" height=\"60\" \/><\/p><p><span data-contrast=\"none\">or click \u2018File\u2019 and select \u2018Options\u2019 at the bottom of the page.<\/span><\/p><p><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<img class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-7737\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/30\/2020\/07\/options.png\" alt=\"Account, Feedback, Options\" width=\"134\" height=\"141\" \/><\/p><p><span data-contrast=\"none\">Either of these methods will open the PowerPoint Options Window.
