I joined the University in the summer of 2019 and I work with my colleagues to promote the effective strategic use of Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) across the institution.

My background is in both language teaching and learning technologies. I worked for 15 years as a teacher of EFL (English as a Foreign Language) in private language schools, the FE and HE sectors, and in Germany. I happily still work with fellow language practitioners to deliver training on facilitating language acquisition through the use of technologies, such as augmented and virtual realities, webinar platforms and flipped learning models, and collaborative and peer-working tools. An enthusiastic use of learning technologies in my own classroom led me to the world of TEL, and a five-year role in FE as a learning technologist and VLE administrator, working with lecturers through one-to-one and group training to explore technological solutions to classroom challenges.

I’m particularly interested in online and blended learning design, online learning pedagogies, immersive technologies in teaching and learning (AR, VR & 360 video), and technology enhanced language acquisition.
