Kim Coles – Senior TEL Advisor

Meet the team > Kim Coles – Senior TEL Advisor

Kim Coles

I have worked in HE for over 10 years, primarily as an Academic Librarian, liaising with staff and students across a range of disciplines including arts, humanities, and medicine. I joined the University in January 2018 as Academic Liaison Team Manager, delivering information skills training and support in person and online. Prior to my time at Reading, I worked at London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, providing information literacy and literature search skills support to students based in London and across the world on the University’s distance learning programme. I am currently on secondment with the TEL Team, as a Senior TEL Advisor.

I am interested in online teaching and learning, and the use of technologies to support collaborative learning in the face to face and online classrooms. I’m particularly interested in supporting students’ transition to and throughout Higher Education, and scaffolding and development of digital and information literacies.

I am the TEL Liaison for:

  • Arts and Communication Design
  • Biological Sciences
  • Humanities
  • Psychology and Clinical Language Sciences

Qualifications

Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) (2020)
MSc Information and Library Studies (2016)
BA (Hons) English Literature and Creative Writing (2010)
