Why is the University introducing a polling tool?
Polling tools provide an effective and easy way for teachers to engage students in problem solving and constructing knowledge, and to give students timely formative feedback. The University is introducing an institution-wide polling solution so that teaching staff have access to a single, fully supported platform.
Why was Vevox chosen?
Vevox was selected following a formal procurement process, which included evaluation against University requirements, demonstrations based on teaching scenarios, technical review and input from academic, technical and TEL colleagues.
When will Vevox be available?
Vevox is expected to be made available to teaching colleagues by December 2026, with more specific rollout dates and implementation plans to be shared as they are confirmed.
Who is leading the project?
The project is led by Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) in partnership with Digital Technology Services (DTS), Procurement and academic colleagues from across the University.

We’ll share further updates through our usual channels and on our Project Site as the project progresses, including information about rollout, pedagogic guidance, practical training opportunities and support ahead of the University-wide launch.

Vevox as a tool
What are the key features in Vevox?
Vevox supports a range of teaching activities, including:
- Live polling
- Quizzes
- Word clouds
- Q&A
- Surveys and self-paced activities.
Does Vevox support multiple languages?
Yes. The Vevox interface and participant experience are available in multiple languages, helping to support a diverse range of users.
Is Vevox accessible?
Yes. Accessibility was a key University requirement during the procurement process. Vevox is designed to support accessible teaching and learning, and we’ll provide further guidance on accessibility features and good practice as part of our guidance.
Will Vevox work with Blackboard?
Yes. Vevox integrates with Blackboard, allowing polling activities to be linked with your modules. More information and guidance will be available before launch.
Can I create anonymous polls?
Yes. Vevox supports anonymous polling and activities, allowing students to respond without revealing their identity.
Will staff receive training?
Yes. Training sessions, guidance and online resources will be available before launch to help staff get started with Vevox.
Will there be guidance for students?
Yes. Student guidance will be produced alongside staff guidance where needed.
Will my existing Vevox polls be transferred to the University account?
If you already have a free or paid-for Vevox account, your existing content may be transferable. We’re currently exploring the available options with Vevox and will provide further guidance during implementation.
