It also has a number of assignment types that incorporate multiple choice questions, programming code, worksheets and more.<\/p>\n<p>We anticipated that Gradescope would facilitate non-essay assessment, primarily across STEM subjects, but could provide a way for electronic marking and feedback for other subjects that may have handwritten, creative or paper submissions.<\/p>\n<h2>What can Gradescope do?<\/h2>\n<span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"730\" height=\"411\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/nJp_NN1oFcw?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-GB&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span>\n<p>The unique components of Gradescope that could make it useful for\u00a0 assessment are its\u2019efficient marking workflows and particular capacity to process handwritten coursework\/answers.<\/p>\n<p>Benefits include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/tel-support\/2021\/02\/23\/gradescope-mark-submitted-work\/#:~:text=Marking%20student%20papers\">Horizontal marking workflows<\/a> (marking each question across all students and proceeding to the next)<\/li>\n<li>A.I clustering, that reads and groups student answers, such as formulae, diagrams, calculations or characters, to allow bulk marking<\/li>\n<li>Flexible and adaptable <a href=\"https:\/\/help.gradescope.com\/article\/5uxa8ht1a2-instructor-assignment-grade-submissions#grading_with_rubrics\">marking rubrics<\/a> that can be expanded and adjusted during marking<\/li>\n<li>Organisation of scanned papers into an online submission, including bubble answer sheets or scanned PDFs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>How can you get involved?<\/h2>\n<p>The TEL team sought to expand the use of Gradescope at the University, with an aim to increase usage and diversify the range of assessments that may benefit from it&#8217;s efficient marking workflows.<\/p>\n<p>If you are reading this and think these features are something which you might be interested in using, please email TEL at <a href=\"mailto:dts@reading.ac.uk\">dts@reading.ac.uk<\/a> with the subject Gradescope.<\/p>\n<h2>Guidance<\/h2>\n<p>Technical support and instruction on creating, deploying and marking Gradescope assessments can be found on our <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/tel-support\/gradescope\/\">TEL Support Site<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What is Gradescope?
