It is recommended for quick ideation, to adapt your teaching in the moment, or generating ephemeral activities for short-term use with students.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>It is not an institutional service in its own right, it is a free <strong>beta<\/strong> service accessed via your institutional Padlet dashboard.<\/li>\n<li>The service is dedicated to developing the pre-release version of the tools; this means you have an opportunity to try them out for free, as Padlet Arcade evolves.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>See our<a href=\"https:\/\/padlet.com\/universityofreading\/padlet-ta-examples-5l7cu6czlv11c5yd\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> Padlet of Examples of Padlet Arcade generated materials<\/a> to see the possible uses in HE teaching.<\/p>\n<h1>Access To Padlet Arcade<\/h1>\n<p>Padlet Arcade is available via the institutional Padlet dashboard (staff only) or directly via <a href=\"http:\/\/arcade.padlet.com\"><strong>arcade.padlet.com<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0(staff and students can access this url, no login required).<\/p>\n<p>There is currently no Blackboard integration for Padlet Arcade, instead, you can share outputs with students by copying a direct link and adding it to your Blackboard Ultra module (the activity will open in a new browser tab). It can help you to:<\/p><ul><li>Respond to what is happening in your classroom in real time (for example, creating a quick task that follows up on a question or misconception).<\/li><li>Differentiate or adapt activities on the fly for different groups or learners.<\/li><li>Explore new ways of supporting active, student-centred learning without needing to be an expert in AI prompting.<\/li><\/ul><p>The interface is intentionally simple and visually friendly, which makes it a gentle entry point for colleagues who are new to AI tools. It is also useful for more experienced users who want to brainstorm or prototype ideas rapidly.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"ea-card sp-ea-single\"><h3 class=\"ea-header\"><a class=\"collapsed\" id=\"ea-header-142921\" role=\"button\" data-sptoggle=\"spcollapse\" data-sptarget=\"#collapse142921\" aria-controls=\"collapse142921\" href=\"#\" aria-expanded=\"false\" tabindex=\"0\"><i aria-hidden=\"true\" role=\"presentation\" class=\"ea-expand-icon eap-icon-ea-expand-plus\"><\/i> When to use Blackboard instead<\/a><\/h3><div class=\"sp-collapse spcollapse \" id=\"collapse142921\" data-parent=\"#sp-ea-14292\" role=\"region\" aria-labelledby=\"ea-header-142921\"> <div class=\"ea-body\"><p>In many cases, Blackboard Ultra tools (including Blackboard\u2019s own AI features) may be more appropriate than Padlet Arcade. You may want to prioritise Blackboard when you:<\/p><ul><li>Need stable, repeatable activities that will be reused across cohorts or years.<\/li><li>Require engagement tracking, grades, or analytics.<\/li><li>Are running high-stakes assessments or activities that directly inform marks.<\/li><li>Need to align closely with institutional templates, structures, and quality assurance processes.<\/li><\/ul><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"ea-card sp-ea-single\"><h3 class=\"ea-header\"><a class=\"collapsed\" id=\"ea-header-142922\" role=\"button\" data-sptoggle=\"spcollapse\" data-sptarget=\"#collapse142922\" aria-controls=\"collapse142922\" href=\"#\" aria-expanded=\"false\" tabindex=\"0\"><i aria-hidden=\"true\" role=\"presentation\" class=\"ea-expand-icon eap-icon-ea-expand-plus\"><\/i> Pedagogic framing and example uses<\/a><\/h3><div class=\"sp-collapse spcollapse \" id=\"collapse142922\" data-parent=\"#sp-ea-14292\" role=\"region\" aria-labelledby=\"ea-header-142922\"> <div class=\"ea-body\"><p>There is increasing emphasis on active learning and meaningful asynchronous engagement in HE. Padlet Arcade can help you explore these priorities quickly by suggesting activities and generating games that you can adapt for your context.<\/p><p>Examples of how you might use Padlet Arcade include:<\/p><ul><li>In-class activities: generating think\u2013pair\u2013share prompts, exit tickets, debate topics, or quick quizzes in response to student questions.<\/li><li>Asynchronous work: creating short activities that students can complete between sessions, then sharing the link in Blackboard.<\/li><li>Personalised study tasks: producing differentiated practice activities for students who need more challenge or more scaffolded support.<\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"letter-spacing: 0px\">In all cases, Padlet Arcade should be seen as a co-designer rather than a replacement for your professional judgement. You remain responsible for reviewing, adapting, and approving any materials before they are shared with students.<\/span><\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"ea-card sp-ea-single\"><h3 class=\"ea-header\"><a class=\"collapsed\" id=\"ea-header-142923\" role=\"button\" data-sptoggle=\"spcollapse\" data-sptarget=\"#collapse142923\" aria-controls=\"collapse142923\" href=\"#\" aria-expanded=\"false\" tabindex=\"0\"><i aria-hidden=\"true\" role=\"presentation\" class=\"ea-expand-icon eap-icon-ea-expand-plus\"><\/i> Limitations and cautions<\/a><\/h3><div class=\"sp-collapse spcollapse \" id=\"collapse142923\" data-parent=\"#sp-ea-14292\" role=\"region\" aria-labelledby=\"ea-header-142923\"> <div class=\"ea-body\"><p>Although TDA approved for use at the university, there are some important limitations to be aware of:<\/p><ul><li>Padlet Arcade is a beta service, meaning the features and interface elements may change without notice.<\/li><li>There is no direct integration with Blackboard Ultra, and no built-in gradebook or analytics tracking.<\/li><li>It is not suitable for facilitation of summative assessment design or activities where long-term stability is essential. Instead, we recommend using Padlet Arcade mainly for exploratory, low-stakes, or one-off learning activities.<\/li><\/ul><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"ea-card sp-ea-single\"><h3 class=\"ea-header\"><a class=\"collapsed\" id=\"ea-header-142924\" role=\"button\" data-sptoggle=\"spcollapse\" data-sptarget=\"#collapse142924\" aria-controls=\"collapse142924\" href=\"#\" aria-expanded=\"false\" tabindex=\"0\"><i aria-hidden=\"true\" role=\"presentation\" class=\"ea-expand-icon eap-icon-ea-expand-plus\"><\/i> Data protection, privacy and responsible use<\/a><\/h3><div class=\"sp-collapse spcollapse \" id=\"collapse142924\" data-parent=\"#sp-ea-14292\" role=\"region\" aria-labelledby=\"ea-header-142924\"> <div class=\"ea-body\"><p>Padlet Arcade is provided by Padlet and is not an institutional service. When using it, you must follow University guidance on the responsible use of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reading.ac.uk\/digital-technology-services\/ai-guidance\">Gen AI and AI meeting tools<\/a>.
