However, short clips may be suitable for sharing. Most platforms give the option to <b>share computer audio <\/b>when sharing content. Alternatively, you might want to<strong> post a link in the chat for students to watch for a few minutes and then return<\/strong> to your session.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\"><b>Webcam feeds <\/b>&#8211;\u00a0Having a webcam lets students see you and &#8211; where appropriate &#8211; one another as well, helping <strong>foster a community in the cohort<\/strong> by letting them see your expressions and body language. It can be <strong>more engaging to see you speak than it is to hear you over PowerPoint slides<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Interactive tasks and collaborative exercises<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\"><strong>Whiteboards<\/strong>: These can be engaging tools that allow learners to collaborate, for instance through collective contributions in which all attendees are able to participate.<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\"><strong>Collect terms<\/strong>,<strong> write in other languages, mark components on a map or image<\/strong>. These also make great <strong>warm-up and icebreaker activities<\/strong> for early sessions.<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\"><strong>Chat<\/strong>: give your attendees a <strong>question or scenario<\/strong> and ask them to <strong>share their answer or opinion using the chat function<\/strong>. This is great for<strong> peer learning<\/strong> and starting <strong>group discussions<\/strong>. Extract key points or trends as you read their replies and <strong>consider inviting individuals onto microphone<\/strong> to build on their contribution in more detail.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\"><strong>After a breakout group activity<\/strong>: Invite <strong>representatives of each group<\/strong> to <strong>feed back to the class<\/strong> on what their group discussed. See: <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/tel-support\/2020\/12\/17\/polls-in-microsoft-teams\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Polling in Microsoft Teams<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<h2>What other apps could I use to pose questions with my students?<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Many teachers <strong>engage their students by &#8216;breaking up&#8217; their presentation with activities<\/strong> that involve full class participation in the forms of <strong>voting<\/strong>,<strong> multiple choice questions <\/strong>and <strong>small competitive questioning<\/strong> activities. This allows you to <strong>gauge the level of understanding<\/strong> of your students, <strong>identify gaps in knowledge<\/strong> or understanding, whilst also facilitating an <strong>active learning session<\/strong> rather than a passive experience.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">As in face-to-face teaching, there are many student response apps that can be used online to engage your students.
