This can manifest in various ways, such as attendees not hearing presenters, not being able to see shared content or being prevented from joining entirely. <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Ensure that your attendees know which browsers they can use to join your webinar.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"margin-left: .375in;direction: ltr;margin-top: 0in;margin-bottom: 0in\" type=\"disc\">\n<li style=\"margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0;vertical-align: middle\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;font-family: Calibri\">Google Chrome<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri\"> &#8211; the<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: bold;font-family: Calibri\"> recommended browser<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri\"> and most stable, but is<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: bold;font-family: Calibri\"> not available in China<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0;vertical-align: middle\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;font-family: Calibri\">Mozilla Firefox<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri\"> &#8211; a viable alternative for Google Chrome<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0;vertical-align: middle\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;font-family: Calibri\">Safari<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri\"> &#8211; typically supported but<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: bold;font-family: Calibri\"> may require enabling of cookies<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0;vertical-align: middle\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;font-family: Calibri\">Microsoft Edge (Chromium)<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri\"> &#8211; <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: bold;font-family: Calibri\">latest versions are typically supported<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri\"> but older versions are not. It is usually <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: bold;font-family: Calibri\">safer to recommend attendees to use Google Chrome<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri\"> or Firefox.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Other browsers such as <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Internet Explorer<\/span> and <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">older versions of Microsoft Edge<\/span> are<span style=\"font-weight: bold\"> not supported<\/span> and should not be used. <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Platforms like Microsoft Teams use dedicated applications that attendees need to install.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Equipment<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Attendees should <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">check their devices in the settings<\/span> of the platform to make sure they are functioning properly. Let them know that they need to <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">make sure that they &#8220;Allow&#8221; their browser to access the microphone and webcam<\/span> when prompted.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Headsets\/earphones should be plugged into their computers before joining a session or opening their browser,<\/span> as plugging in a headset after joining will sometimes result in the platform not recognising the device. If attendees do this then ask them to<span style=\"font-weight: bold\"> leave, close their browser and join the session again<\/span>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\"><strong>Headsets\/earphones<\/strong> sometimes have <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">mute buttons on the device<\/span> itself that attendees may not realise has been activated. Ask them (in chat) to double check their headsets\/earphones are not muted if they cannot hear the session.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Opportunity to test equipment<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">If you&#8217;re interacting online with your students for the first time online, <strong>consider encouraging your students to attend a &#8220;practice&#8221; or induction session<\/strong> with you before proper teaching commences.
