They provide essential support for students throughout their studies.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Evidence-backed benefits include:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Students can learn at their own pace by pausing and rewatching.<\/li>\n<li>Helps students recap complex terminology and ideas.<\/li>\n<li>Supports students balancing work, caring responsibilities, or long commutes.<\/li>\n<li>Aids understanding for students with English as an additional language.<\/li>\n<li>Provides inclusive support for students with disabilities, including those who may not disclose their needs.<\/li>\n<li>Helps students manage illness or other temporary barriers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif\">I think the materials (recorded videos of the class) available on Blackboard really helped with personal study &#8211; Undergraduate student (2024)<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2>What am I expected to record?<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.reading.ac.uk\/cqsd\/-\/media\/project\/functions\/cqsd\/documents\/qap\/policy-for-the-recording-of-teaching-and-learning-activities.pdf?la=en&amp;hash=80A5C4524EE3788C430A2293789352FC\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The University Recording Policy<\/a>\u00a0encourages staff to record teaching in ways that support students&#8217; learning and reflect the nature of different teaching contexts.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>You should record:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Staff-led, presentation-style content (e.g. lectures, demonstrations).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>You don\u2019t need to record:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Student-led or discussion-based sessions (e.g. seminars, tutorials).<\/li>\n<li>Sessions with sensitive content or where a recording would have limited value.<\/li>\n<li>Yourself on camera.
