{"id":2188,"date":"2016-11-09T14:42:43","date_gmt":"2016-11-09T14:42:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.reading.ac.uk\/tel\/?p=2188"},"modified":"2019-12-16T15:01:23","modified_gmt":"2019-12-16T15:01:23","slug":"blackboard-upgrade-18th-19th-december","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/tel\/2016\/11\/09\/blackboard-upgrade-18th-19th-december\/","title":{"rendered":"Blackboard upgrade 18th-19th December 2016"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Blackboard will be unavailable to users<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Sunday 18 December 2016 08:30 a.m. &#8211; Monday 19 December 2016 12:00 midday GMT<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This period of downtime is for a Blackboard upgrade.<\/p>\n<p>The new Blackboard version does not make any significant changes to functionality, but it does introduce a number of back-end technical improvements, and some welcome bug fixes.<\/p>\n<p>IT and CQSD staff will carry out post-upgrade checks on the morning of Monday 19 December before service is restored to all users.<\/p>\n<p>Having carried out a couple of dry runs, we anticipate that checking will be complete by mid-morning on Monday; however you should treat the whole of the Monday morning as potentially \u201cat risk\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><strong>We would not expect any assessment deadlines to fall in the week immediately preceding the Christmas closure.
