{"id":3010,"date":"2017-07-17T15:38:07","date_gmt":"2017-07-17T15:38:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.reading.ac.uk\/tel\/?p=3010"},"modified":"2019-12-16T14:56:16","modified_gmt":"2019-12-16T14:56:16","slug":"revised-date-for-blackboard-upgrade-6th-7th-august","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/tel\/2017\/07\/17\/revised-date-for-blackboard-upgrade-6th-7th-august\/","title":{"rendered":"Revised date for Blackboard upgrade: 6th &#8211; 7th August 2017"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Colleagues\u00a0will be aware that we had previously scheduled this summer\u2019s Blackboard upgrade for 25<sup>th<\/sup> June, but this had to be postponed when Blackboard\u2019s quality checks identified a software defect.\u00a0This bug was quickly resolved, and we are currently testing the revised software version on our Staging system.<\/p>\n<p>We are keen to take advantage of new features offered by the latest version, and have provisionally rescheduled the upgrade for 6<sup>th<\/sup> &#8211; 7<sup>th<\/sup> August.<\/p>\n<p>The upgrade requires system downtime.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Blackboard and Turnitin \u00a0will be unavailable <\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px\"><strong>from 7.20 p.m. on Sunday 6<sup>th<\/sup> August<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px\"><strong>until no later than midday on Monday 7<sup>th<\/sup> August<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We will endeavour to complete all post-upgrade checks, and have Blackboard back online, by mid-morning on Monday 7<sup>th<\/sup>, but the whole of the morning should be considered as being \u201cat risk\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This downtime window has been planned to minimise disruption, and particularly to avoid any disruption to those resitting exams.<\/p>\n<p>Our apologies if the revised schedule does cause any inconvenience for you and your learners.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Colleagues\u00a0will be aware that we had previously scheduled this summer\u2019s Blackboard upgrade for 25th June, but this had to be postponed when Blackboard\u2019s quality checks identified a software defect.\u00a0This bug was quickly resolved, and we are currently testing the revised software version on our Staging system.
