Mobile Learn is being discontinued in favour of two &#8220;persona-based&#8221; apps:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>a student app simply called <strong>Blackboard<\/strong> &#8211; see our <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.reading.ac.uk\/tel-help-for-students\/?kbe_knowledgebase=blackboard-mobile-app\">guidance for students<\/a> on the Student Help site<\/li>\n<li><strong>Blackboard Instructor<\/strong> for those with a staff role (e.g. Instructor or Teaching Assistant) on their Blackboard courses<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Students are able to use the Blackboard app right now, but staff eager to try out Blackboard Instructor will have to wait until 7th August, after our system upgrade.<\/p>\n<p>We will make sure we have some guidance material ready by then.<\/p>\n<p>In the meantime you can get an idea of what the app can do from this short video<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"730\" height=\"411\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ZeGhoP8l0Ec?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-GB&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/p>\n<p>and on the Blackboard Help site:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/help.blackboard.com\/Blackboard_App\/Instructor\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">https:\/\/help.blackboard.com\/Blackboard_App\/Instructor<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Initially the app provides limited functionality, but the range of features will increase over the coming months. In this first version you can<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>preview course content, including tests and assignments &#8211; this\u00a0could be really useful to check how well students are able to view your course content on a mobile device<\/li>\n<li>post announcements<\/li>\n<li>post and reply to discussion forums<\/li>\n<li>launch Collaborate Ultra sessions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Future releases will allow tablet users to view, mark and provide feedback on assignment submissions.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>You may see notifications from Blackboard about\u00a0Instructor, their new mobile app for staff.
